All eastbound lanes at the Holt Avenue on ramp are closed for three to four hours for an investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol. It appears a CHP officer spoke to a pedestrian on the west I-10 freeway near Holt Avenue around 5:47 a.m. The pedestrian allegedly said someone as trying to kill him. The pedestrian, only described as a male with tattoos then ran across traffic lanes to the center divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was first hit by a vehicle’s side mirror as the pedestrian walked against traffic along the middle lanes of the freeway as he attempted to flag down drivers, according to the CHP. Around 6:04 a.m. came in the first report of the pedestrian possibly down in traffic lanes just west of Via Verde in the No. 3 and 4 lanes. By 6:19 a.m., CHP officers were requesting a hard closure of eastbound lanes. Officers responded to 3033 E. Valley Blvd. around 5:23 a.m. November 3 and found a vehicle struck a wall. The only occupant inside the vehicle was declared dead at the scene, according to Lt. Tony Cortina of the West Covina Police Department. West Covina Police traffic investigators are on scene determining the cause. It is not yet publicly clear how or why the collision occurred. A Sig Alert was issued for an unknown duration for the on ramp from Southbound Vincent Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. The point of impact occurred just north of the on ramp. The collision occurred on Lark Ellen Avenue at Cameron Avenue at 5:07 p.m. Four vehicles were involved, according to Keith Freeman, acting lieutenant of the West Covina Police Department. The West Covina Police Traffic Bureau is investigating the crash. One of the drivers may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, but it is still unclear what caused the collision, Freeman told SGV CityWatch. Freeman was not sure if anyone else was injured. The No. 1 lane of the eastbound off ramp remains closed. WEST COVINA – One freeway lane has opened after a crash took a life early Thursday morning. All other lanes remain closed. A body was reported in the No. 1 lane of the eastbound I-10 freeway just west of Azusa Avenue around 4:33 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. All other lanes remain closed for an unknown duration. It is unclear which vehicle struck and killed the pedestrian. A blue sedan was observed stopped on the right shoulder of the eastbound I-10 near where the pedestrian was discovered. An additional two to three vehicles were stopped in traffic lanes and pedestrians were seen running to the body, the CHP reported. The driver fled the truck after it tipped over and crashed on the westbound I 10 freeway off ramp on Garvey Avenue east of Barranca Avenue around 3:53 p.m. 30 tons of bottled water were strewn across the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol. A heavy duty tow truck was called to lift the approximately 70,000 pound truck back onto its wheels. No injuries were reported. The trailer caught fire and stopped on the westbound I-10 freeway near Pacific Avenue sometime after 2 a.m. March 28. The California Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 2:11 a.m. according to CHP traffic logs. The trailer was hauling 30,000 pounds of tomatoes. The structural integrity of the trailer is compromised and the tomatoes are being offloaded before the trailer can be moved, the California Highway Patrol said. No injuries were reported. The crash took place around 9 a.m. at East Valley Boulevard and South Sentous Avenue February 11. A driver ran a red light and hit the patrol SUV that was waiting for a green light, according to Lieutenant Adler of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. No one was injured, Adler said. Adler did not believe initially that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. December 29 near Francisquito Avenue and Willow Avenue. Officers are investigating the possibility that one driver suffered a medical emergency which led to the collision, according to Lt. Keith Shishido of the West Covina Police Department. The collision created a hazard in the intersection, forcing police to briefly block the road to traffic while the road was cleaned, Shishido said. The crash occurred on the westbound I-10 freeway just east of Barranca Street around 7:09 p.m. There were no reported injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol. The trailer was ripped apart and spilled debris across the No. 4 & 5 lanes, with some debris spilling below onto Garvey Avenue, the CHP said.
What caused the trailer to overturn was not immediately clear. A Sig Alert was issued at 7:16 p.m. and was cancelled at 11:52 p.m. |
