Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – The Monterey Park Police Department announced the arrest of the driver accused of striking and wounding a pedestrian.
Alan Cuong Van Huynh, a 55-year-old South El Monte man, was identified and arrested February 1. He was booked in Monterey Park on suspicion of felony hit and run, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Huynh is accused of fleeing after striking and wounding a pedestrian January 28 at Corporate Center Drive and Davidson Drive around 2:32 p.m. Huynh was turning left onto Davidson Drive from southbound Corporate Center Drive. Huynh allegedly fled the scene after the crash, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The pedestrian is still hospitalized. Huynh is being held in lieu of $50,000 ahead of a scheduled appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Thursday, February 3. The pedestrian is being treated for what was described as life-threatening injuries. She was hit by the van that was turning left from southbound Corporate Center Drive onto Davidson Drive just after 2:30 p.m., according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The cargo van was caught in nearby security camera as it fled the scene.
