Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - A pedestrian was found unresponsive and was later declared dead on Atlantic Boulevard near the 60 freeway overpass early Saturday morning.
First responders were dispatched at 1:36 a.m. and found the victim down in the middle of northbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard. The victim appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. It is unclear if a possible suspect vehicle, or driver, has been identified. Any witnesses to the crash is urged to call the Monterey Park Police Department at 626-307-1200. Alan Cuong Van Huynh, a 55-year-old South El Monte man, was identified and arrested February 1. He was booked in Monterey Park on suspicion of felony hit and run, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Huynh is accused of fleeing after striking and wounding a pedestrian January 28 at Corporate Center Drive and Davidson Drive around 2:32 p.m. Huynh was turning left onto Davidson Drive from southbound Corporate Center Drive. Huynh allegedly fled the scene after the crash, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The pedestrian is still hospitalized. Huynh is being held in lieu of $50,000 ahead of a scheduled appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Thursday, February 3. |
