The suspected DUI driver’s passenger sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. Occupants in the other vehicle received minor injuries, according to the West Covina Police Department. The crash occurred just before 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, at South Azusa Avenue and East Vine Avenue. A van and a sedan collided, sending the van into a power pole. Andrew Williams, 33, was booked on the above mentioned crimes and is accused of possessing more than 600 images of child pornography, according to the West Covina Police Department. The West Covina Police Department said that Williams’ prior place of employment was a church and he last worked in San Dimas. A quick Internet search revealed an Andrew Williams worked as an IT administrator at Victory Outreach Church, 250 W. Arrow Hwy. in San Dimas, beginning in 2019. This investigation spend several months and included the efforts of West Covina Police detectives, the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the US Marshal Service Pacific Southwest Regiona Fugitive Task Force. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed felony charges for the two mentioned crimes. “Due to Williams’ prior place of employment, a church, Detectives believe there may be potential physical victims,” the West Covina Police Department said in a written statement. The suspect is also known to have previously resided in the City of Costa Mesa. The house, a detached garage and a boat parked in the driveway all suffered extensive damage in the 400 block of North Phillips Avenue, according to the West Covina Fire Department. Los Angeles County firefighters assisted West Covina with extinguishing the flames. The West Covina Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit is determining the cause. No one was injured in the crash that occurred at Valinda Avenue and Maplegrove Avenue around 5 p.m. The building’s stability was determined to be compromised, according to the West Covina Fire Department. “City of West Covina Fire Department USAR personnel assessed the building requested assistance from Los Angeles County Fire Department USAR 103 who then built and placed a long term shoring system,” according to the West Covina Fire Department in a written statement. First responders located a 66-year-old man unresponsive outside Vons, 777 S. Glendora Ave., June 25 after being called just after 8 p.m. Paramedics found the man not breathing and pronounced him deceased, according to the West Covina Police Department. “The decedent was a 66-year-old male who had a history of medical issues. No foul play is suspected,” according to the West Covina Police Department in a written statement. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner was not readily available to identify the man. The fire was confined to one side of the home in the 1400 block of East Workman Avenue and firefighters kept the fire from extending into the home, according to the West Covina Fire Department. “The resident evacuated before Fire Department arrival and was transported to a local hospital with burn injuries,” the West Covina Fire Department said in a written statement. Officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1200 block of South Montezuma Way just before 5:30 p.m. October 15 and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He died at the scene, according to Alexis Napoles, community relations officer for the West Covina Police Department. “One possible suspect was detained pending further investigation,” Napoles said. but it is unclear Saturday afternoon if any arrests have been made. The unidentified rider who was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour refused to stop for CHP officers conducting a construction crew protection operation on the I-10 freeway in the Pomona area around 1 a.m. August 18, according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol. The rider sped past the CHP from the I-10 westbound near Kellogg Drive. Officers caught up to the rider near Azusa Avenue. The rider entered surface streets on West Covina Parkway and fled south on Glendora Avenue when officers lost sight of him, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. The rider reportedly ran a red light and broad-sided a Toyota Camry occupied by a 35-year-old female driver and 40-year-old male passenger in the No. 2 lane of Glendora Avenue at Merced Avenue, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. The rider died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the Camry were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. The CHP Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the fatal crash. West Covina Police assisted with traffic control and the West Covina Fire Department rendered aid at the scene, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. |
