 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AVOCADO HEIGHTS - A big rig hauling 30,000 pounds of perishables overturned and crashed on the trans road from the eastbound 60 freeway to the 605 freeway Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol has initiated a hard closure of the No. 1 and 2 lanes of the trans road to the northbound 605 freeway. The big rig and trailer overturned just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, November 12. A Sig Alert has been issued for an unknown duration. There was a report that the big rig caught fire. The trailer wrapped itself around a freeway sign and damaged about 100 feet of K-rails, creating an immediate hazard, according to CHP traffic logs. The driver was briefly trapped, but was able to free himself during a rescue effort. It is unclear if the driver was injured. |
