Glendora Man Jailed, Accused of Injury DUI Crash Near Azusa April 21

CITRUS - Three people were injured in a three-vehicle collision caused by an alleged drunk driver on East Gladstone Street just west of North Fenimore Avenue in the unincorporated area near Azusa Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 9:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Gladstone Street. The alleged DUI driver behind the wheel of a Jeep Cherokee struck the rear of a Scion XD in front of him, causing the Scion to spin out into westbound lanes where it was struck from behind by a Honda Civic, according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, 32-year-old DeAndrae Leonard of Glendora, then veered to the right and struck a raised cement curb, Jimenez said.

Leonard was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was booked on suspicion of felony DUI, Jimenez said.

The occupants of the Scion, two women from Azusa, were hospitalized. The 24-year-old driver was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for a complaint of pain. Her 21-year-old passenger was taken to the same hospital for major injuries, Jimenez said.

The driver of the Honda Civic, a 30-year-old Covina woman, was taken to Inter-Community Hospital in Covina for a complaint of pain.
