A firefighter was also injured and required hospitalization. First responders were sent to the 19000 block of East Conway Springs Lane around 1:50 p.m., according to Craig Little of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Heavy fire was observed on the second floor towards the back of the house. Within 10 minutes of being dispatched, firefighters learned that there was at least one victim somewhere in the house. The victim was located and transported to a hospital, Little told SGV CityWatch. A homicide investigator with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrived to assume investigation of the death. Cause investigators with County Fire are also on scene. Conway Springs Lane between Braes River Drive and Heaton Moor Drive remains closed for an unknown duration. Roughly 400 Marijuana plants were discovered after firefighters extinguished the blaze. No one was injured and no other structures were damaged, according to Sgt. Starkly of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. Firefighters were called just before 9 a.m. to the 19800 block of Florencita Drive December 12 in an unincorporated area identified as Walnut Islands. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives Detail is investigating. The home has been red-tagged, Starkey told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WALNUT - Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a Walnut home Monday night. A reported patio fire burned behind a home in the 100 block of South Dommer Avenue in Walnut just before 11:50 p.m. November 11. The fire eventually spread into two rooms inside the home, according to Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman. There were no reported injuries. Building inspectors were called to examine the structure, Pitman said. It is unclear if the structure is habitable. |
