Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WALNUT – A Sig Alert in still in effect for the No. 5 lane of the eastbound 60 freeway at South Lemon Avenue Monday. The crash was reported to the CHP at 5:25 a.m. January 13. A blue sedan struck the guardrail and landed on top of the guardrail. No other vehicle was involved in the crash, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The driver died at the scene and is only described as a man.
A one-hour Sig Alert was issued for the No. 5 lane at 6 a.m. It is still in effect, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the CHP Traffic Management Center. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WALNUT - A field sergeant with the Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station was hospitalized along with at least one civilian after a collision Thursday morning. The crash occurred at South Brea Canyon Road and Valley Boulevard just before 6 a.m. It is unclear if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor, according to Sgt. Thomas Anderson of the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station. The injured sergeant immediately called for backup deputies and even read back the license plate of the civilian vehicle involved in the crash while trapped in his patrol vehicle, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic.
South Brea Canyon Road and Valley Boulevard remains closed. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor WALNUT - A more than 20-ton truck flipped over, forcing a portion of Valley Boulevard to close Friday afternoon.
Westbound Valley Boulevard at Brea Canyon Road is scheduled to remain closed until 2 p.m. Friday while crews work to up right the 40,000-pound truck, described as a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol. The truck flipped just after 11:30 a.m. The driver was able to exit the truck, but it is unclear if the driver was injured. |
