The roadway re-opened within the last hour after workers successfully closed off the gas leak, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. The gas line was ruptured just after noon Wednesday, November 13. Authorities believed the roadway would Remain closed until possibly at least 10 p.m. Authorities closed Grand Avenue from Amar Road/Temple Avenue to Cameron Avenue. The College Vista neighborhood sheltered in place during the gas leak. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor WALNUT - A suicidal man who climbed to the roof of a two-story building and threatened to jumps as talked down by Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday.
Passersby reported the man climbed to the top of a commercial building around 2:20 p.m. Deputies arrived and summoned a Los Angeles County Fire Department ladder truck to aid the man down, according to Sgt. Patrick Coussa of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut Station. The man climbed to the second story of the commercial building in the 20800 block of Valley Boulevard, according to Dispatch Supervisor Jeremy Stafford of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. After about 40 minutes, deputies convinced the man to descend via the ladder where he was detained. The man is being given aid, Coussa said. |
