Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A Black girl estimated at 7 to 10 years old was the person found dead alongside Hacienda Boulevard, homicide detectives said Tuesday. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau believe the girl was there for more than 24 hours. The body was discovered around 9:55 a.m. March 5 along Hacienda Boulevard and South Glenmark Drive in the dirt and bushes east of Hacienda. Firefighters responded to an initial call of a victim in full arrest.
The cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The body was discovered around 9:50 a.m., according to Sgt. Lopez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Initially reported as a woman, multiple news stations are reporting the victim is a young girl possibly discovered in a suitcase. The body was discovered in the area of Hacienda Boulevard and South Glenmark Drive. Firefighters were dispatched to the location initially for a victim in cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched at 10:02 a.m. and arrived five minutes later. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are on scene. The search has been underway since roughly 7:30 p.m. A passenger in the stolen vehicle is detained, according to Sgt. Matthew Shackelford of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The driver is hiding near a home in the area of Gregorio Drive and Paso Verde Drive. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - Firefighters are still at the scene of a major traffic collision between a motorcycle and at least one other vehicle Monday evening.
The motorcycle and possibly two other vehicles crashed at the intersection of Stimson Avenue and Garo Street around 5:44 p.m. The California Highway Patrol is handling the crash, according to Officer Stephen Brandt of the CHP Traffic Management Center. At least one person suffered major injuries, but it is unclear who was injured and what the extent is. Deputies are assisting with traffic control, according to Lt. Rick Rector of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. A Los Angeles County Fire unit has arrived for transport of a patient or patients, but base yet to leave the scene more than one hour after the crash occurred. |
