Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ROWLAND HEIGHTS - Deputies are still searching for a man and woman involved in an armed carjacking where a child was taken during the crime.
The child turned up at the parents’ home in Baldwin Park roughly 30 minutes after the carjacking occurred. A female victim received unknown injuries after being involved in an initial scuffle with a female suspect, according to Lt. Avola of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station. Deputies were called to the scene at 10:49 p.m. Avala did not know why the altercation began, but the occupants of two vehicles at Camino Bello and Fullerton Road began a heated argument. A physical altercation ensued and a male suspect allegedly brandished a handgun, Avola said. The armed suspect then took the victims’ vehicle. “Unbeknownst to him, there was a 1-year-old infant in the back seat,” Avala said. “Since they know each other, once he realized there was a child in the vehicle, he dropped the child off at the family’s residence,” Avola said. Deputies attempted to find a cell phone left inside the carjacked vehicle and located it at an area park, Avola said. Deputies know who the suspects are. The male suspect may face assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking and kidnapping charges, Avola said.
