HACIENDA HEIGHTS – No injuries were reported after four suspects entered a home while the residents were present Tuesday afternoon, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. The home invasion occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Oldridge Drive August 4. Four suspects only described as males were reportedly armed with handguns, according to Lt. Baker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
The suspects took several items and fled in an unknown direction. Baker did not know what was taken, how the suspects entered the home, or what vehicle the suspects fled in. Better descriptions for the suspects were not available. The home invasion robbery occurred on Angelcrest Drive south of Tetley Street July 22.
The three possible suspects reportedly entered through a backyard door around 3:30 p.m., according to Lt. Lim of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Lim was unsure if weapons were used, or what may have been taken. The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries considered not life threatening, Lim told SGV CityWatch. The only description Lim had was of a silver SUV seen fleeing the home. No other information is available. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station responding to a gunfire call around 12:38 a.m. were soon told of a man down. Deputies found him laying on the side of the road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The man was found on Turnbull Canyon Road south of Northview Terrace.
The victim, only described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, died at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso. There is apparently no suspect information available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A man was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Saturday morning with mysterious injuries deputies believe he may have suffered in a collision.
The injured man was reportedly walking through yards near South Turnbull Canyon Road before 7 a.m. March 28. Deputies were called to the area around 6:50 a.m. The man was found in the 3600 block of South Turnbull Canyon Road, according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s industry station. According to sheriffs radio traffic, the man was very confused. He had injuries deputies believed were consistent with a traffic collision, including a large swollen injury to his head. The man had briefly mentioned being with his sister and being in an automobile, but deputies were unable to obtain solid information about his last known whereabouts, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. A Sheriff’s helicopter briefly searched Turnbull Canyon Road along the hills south of Hacienda Heights, but no obvious crash site could be found. The man, described as Hispanic and in his 20s, was transported by firefighters to a hospital. An update on the man’s condition and his possible last known whereabouts were not readily available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - A parolee and three women were taken into custody Sunday night after they threatened and attacked a couple as part of ongoing drama, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. The four suspects tracked down the victim and her boyfriend to Glenthorne Street. The parolee, identified as 19-year-old Leonardo Castro-Verdugo and brandished a handgun. The victim and her boyfriend were chased after escaping, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Castro-Verdugo also allegedly pointed the gun at the victims and threatened to shoot them. The butt of the gun was used to break a window on the victims vehicle. One of the victims, in turn, damaged the suspect vehicle, long told SGV CityWatch. Deputies were first called around 11:09 p.m. March 22 from the victim and her boyfriend in the area of Azusa Avenue and Colima Road.
“The male and girl flee. They call police and our front desk tells them to drive to the station. Deputies were waiting right here and the suspect drove right by,” long told SGV CityWatch. Deputies followed the suspects and performed a traffic stop at Prichard Street and Perth Avenue in La Puente. Castro-Verdugo fled deputies on foot and ditched his gun before surrendering on Beckner Street, Long told SGV CityWatch. Castro-Verdugo, a La Puente man, was recently released from prison, having served time for an attempted armed robbery, Long told SGV CityWatch. Also arrest were 24-year-old Samantha Carillo, from La Puente, Bianca Mendoza, a 19-year-old La Puente woman, and Irene Anguiano, a 21-year-old El Monte woman. The incident unfolded near South Seventh Avenue and Clark Avenue around 9:40 a.m. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, according to Sgt. Kline of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s industry Station. No shots were fired, Kline said.
Kline did not have a vehicle description, or a suspect description beyond a Hispanic man in a black hat. A Sheriff’s crime broadcast described the suspect vehicle as a black Toyota Avalon with tinted windows and chrome rims. The suspect fled southbound on Seventh Avenue. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor HACIENDA HEIGHTS - 13 people were arrested January 1 after deputies uncovered an illegal gambling parlor. The parlor was discovered after a patrolling deputy attempted to detain a man and woman; the former reportedly passed a handgun to the latter in the 1300 block of Hacienda Boulevard around 9:23 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The woman fled into the location, locked the door and refused to exit, setting off a containment by Sheriff’s deputies. The woman refused to comply with orders to exit. While Industry Station detectives wrote a search warrant to enter the location, the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau arrived and were able to convince the woman to surrender, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. 11 others exited and were arrested, along with the man allegedly seen giving the woman a handgun.
The gambling parlor was discovered with the help of the search warrant. The initial male suspect was booked on suspicion of weapons charges and possession of methamphetamine for sales. the woman was booked on suspicion of a weapons charge. The other 11 people arrested were booked on suspicion of illegal gambling. Two of the 11 were additionally booked on suspicion of possessing a short-barrel shotgun. The robbery unfolded around 1 a.m. September 9 in the 2700 block of Kiska Avenue when two men approached the home and forced their way in after the resident answered the door, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The resident, a man in his 60s, was uninjured.
One suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds; the other a possible Hispanic or Vietnamese man around 5 feet 11 inches tall and 160 pounds. Both suspects were seen fleeing south on Stimson Avenue from the home in an unknown vehicle, Long said. A 33-year-old victim was found dead by deputies responding to a gunshot victim call in the 15300 block of Manzanita Drive just after 1:33 a.m. September 9. Two women in their 20s were shot at -- one sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso, the other sustained injures not directly from gunfire, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. All three victims were believed to be leaving a party from nearby in the 1700 block of Vallecito Drive A suspect or suspects tied to a dark-colored vehicle opened fire on the victims, investigators said.
