Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH SAN JOSE HILLS - One of the two victims shot late Friday night died at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported. Two men were hit by gunfire in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. June 28. Industry deputies arrived to the scene and found a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was declared dead at the scene. Another victim was found suffering from one gunshot wound to the upper torso. The 22-year-old victim remains hospitalized in critical condition, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. An earlier story incorrectly stated both victims were taken to an area hospital.
The Sheriff’s Information Bureau has no information on a suspect, however, Lt. Chris Garcia of the Sheriff’s Industry Station stated a blue Nissan Altima was seen speeding away from the location. The car’s ties to the shooting are unknown. Anyone with information on a suspect is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau at 323-890-5500. A blue Nissan Altima was seen fleeing the scene near Gemini Street and North Winton Avenue at 10:30 p.m., according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
The shooting victims were taken to a trauma center. Their conditions were not immediately known. A suspect description was not known. |
