The driver was taken into custody after initially refusing to exit for deputies after crashing at Workman Mill Road and Valley Boulevard. Deputies from Norwalk originally pursued the driver for hitting a pedestrian, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. Deputies chased the driver of a tan SUV through neighborhoods in the area of Workman Mill Road and Rose Hills Road before entering north on the 605 freeway. A deputy crashed into another vehicle during the pursuit, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic, just before the suspect hit a vehicle head-on. The suspect was hit with pepper ball rounds before he complied and was detained. The shooting took place near Amar Road and North Hacienda Blvd., May 17. An unknown suspect in a dark colored sedan opened fire. The boy was struck in the upper torso, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The boy was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, but was eventually transported to County/USC where he died, Koerner said. Deputies initially responded to the area of North Fifth Street and Temple Avenue where the victim ended up. But soon after responding, deputies learned that the shooting took place near the Kentucky Fried Chicken, 939 N. Hacienda Blvd., where they found evidence of the shooting, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A boyfriend stabbed during a domestic fight and the male suspect who stabbed himself while being detained are expected to survive their wounds, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. The stabbing unfolded in the area of Amar Road and Sunset Avenue around 8:53 p.m. January 2. Deputies arrived to the scene of the stabbing and while the suspect was being detained, he allegedly stabbed himself in the chest, according to Sgt. Macias of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. “It was a domestic conflict between boyfriend and boyfriend,” Macias told SGV CityWatch.
The suspect was transported in critical condition. The severity of the wound to the victim was not immediately known. “The victim and the suspect in the stabbing are going to live,” Macias told SGV CityWatch. The victim is uncooperative with deputies who are trying to identify a motive and suspect. The shooting reportedly occurred around 7:56 p.m. on Amar Road between Valinda Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard. “The victim drove himself to a local hospital. We met him there and he’s been completely uncooperative,” according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. There is no suspect description. La Puente has been coping with a sharp increase in gun violence, which left three people dead and others injured. The most recent shooting occurred at a motel party at the Valley Inn, 13010 Valley Blvd., July 3. One man was injured by gunfire after a fistfight occurred. A man was found dead in an alleyway July 1 of an apparent gunshot wound in the 15400 block of Temple Avenue. One man died and another wounded in a June 30 shooting in the 400 block of Tonopah Avenue. Two men were injured, one fatally, in a shooting June 28 in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue. Deputies found two injured men in the 400 block of Tonopah Avenue June 30. One was pronounced dead at the scene, a second survived his wounds and was hospitalized, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Investigators did not specify if the surviving man also suffered gunshot wounds. A suspect description was not given. Matthew Shackelford and Lt. Chris Garcia of the Sheriff’s Industry Station were unable to verify if the victim survived her wounds. The shooting was reported on Glenshaw Drive near Janetdale Street around 12:50 p.m.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 12:50 p.m. They cleared the scene at 1:12 p.m., but it was unclear if anyone was transported to the scene, according to Captain Ron Singleton of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Just before 2 p.m., a possible suspect was detained at Broadmore and Blackwood, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. The circumstances that may have led to the shooting were undisclosed. Deputies have traffic diverted around Glenshaw Avenue. The teen is recovering and is in stable condition at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, according to Sgt. David Cortinas of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The incident occurred around 12:16 p.m. at the high school, 401 Nogales St. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported unconscious patient and transported the victim, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The victim was found shot in the 14700 block of Nelson Avenue just before 3:30 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is unclear where the suspect was actually shot, but he was found on Nelson Avenue, according to Sgt. Enriquez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The victim, described as a male Hispanic, was the only victim found hit, Enriquez said. Deputies at the scene found .45-caliber shell casings and a bullet hole in the wall of a home, according to Industry Sheriff’s Station radio traffic. A suspect description was unavailable. |
