Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - A 47-year-old man was shot to death by an unknown suspect on the streets of Rosemead Thursday night.
The man was discovered by a Sheriff’s Temple Station deputy on patrol on the 8000 block of Rosemead Boulevard around 11:03 p.m. The deputy was westbound on Garvey Avenue when he heard gunfire west of his location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. “The victim was walking with a female acquaintance who heard multiple gunshots and saw a male suspect fleeing westbound on the north sidewalk away from the scene,” the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said in a written statement. There is no suspect description available and it is unclear if the shooting was gang related. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Deputies responded to a home in the 1600 block of Delta Avenue after 5 p.m. to the shooting call. Los Angeles County Firefighters treated the officer on scene and transported him to County/USC Medical Center for further treatment, said Sgt. Curt Messerschmidt of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Temple Station. Messerschmidt did not have the details of why the gun was accidentally discharged inside the home. It is unclear if anyone else was inside the home at the time. |
