The man was coaxed down through the work of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Mental Evaluation Team, which talked to the man for at least three hours during the standoff, authorities said. It is unclear when the man was finally detained. Numerous calls to the San Marino Police Department have gone unanswered. The man was being transported in a rescue ambulance when he escaped in nothing but blue boxers at California Boulevard and Sierra Madre Boulevard in San Marino around 12:40 a.m. March 31. By the afternoon, San Marino Police and Pasadena Police searched yard to yard for the man on the Pasadena/San Marino border in the neighborhoods around San Pasqual Street and Sierra Madre Boulevard, according to San Marino Police radio traffic.
The man was found in a yard. He was very agitated, moving from the ground to the roof. Power was cut as he was seen clutching what is believed to be a power line to the home. It was unclear why the subject was initially sought by police, but he is keeping police at bay, shifting from the roof to a rear yard. The subject is very agitated. Firefighters are waiting for the subject to surrender to treat him. SAN MARINO - Pasadena Police are assisting San Marino officers with a suspect search Sunday afternoon. The search is taking place in the area of California Boulevard and Sierra Madre Boulevard. A helicopter is assisting with coordinating a search from the air. The decision was made during an investigation into an anonymous threat directed at one student at San Marino High School, 2701 Huntington Dr., March 4. A juvenile has been arrested, accused of making the threat, San Marino Police said. Police were made aware of the threat early Monday morning. “The Department contacted San Marino Unified School District and consulted with their senior staff. A decision was made to cancel classes and close the High School until further notice,” San Marino Police said. The suspects, 25-year-old Emily Veliz and 24-year-old Maria Pule, both from Lynwood, were arrested by officers searching for package thieves accused of taking property from two San Marino homes February 7. A resident provided suspect and vehicle descriptions captured through her iRing security camera in the 2300 block of Ridgeway Road after the suspects were witnessed stealing form the home around 12:49 p.m., San Marino Police said. During the search, a resident in the 2100 block of Adair Street reported similar suspects in a similar vehicle taking a package, San Marin Police said. Officers located a suspect vehicle at 2:10 p.m. at California Boulevard and Winston Avenue. “A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the two occupants were contacted. During the investigation, San Marino Police Officers were able to identify stolen property that was positively identified by numerous victims in San Marino,” San Marino Police said. The vehicle the suspects were in was also reported stolen. Both suspects were booked on suspicion of theft, possession of stolen property, providing false information to an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, San Marino Police said. written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO - A Lakewood man and Los Angeles man were arrested Thursday after a vigilant resident called police after he witnessed a possible burglary in progress.
The resident saw the two suspects jump a gate to the backyard of a home in the 1800 block of Alpine Drive around 9 a.m., according to the San Marino Police Department. The men wore hoodies and had their faces covered as they exited a black Lexus and ran to the home. “[The resident] knew the neighbors were not home at the time and called to report the suspicious activity,” San Marino Police said in a written statement. Officers surrounded the home and conducted a search with the help of South Pasadena, San Gabriel, Alhambra Police, two K-9 units and a Pasadena Police helicopter. A yard to yard search with the K9s yielded two hiding suspects in a neighboring yard, San Marino Police said. Arrested were Demein Coleman, 24, from Los Angeles, and Aaron Phillips, 24, of Lakewood. Both men were booked on suspicion of residential burglary, possessing stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Both men are scheduled to appear in Alhambra Municipal Court December 3. The unidentified woman died at Huntington Memorial Hospital October 29 after she was freed from her heavily damaged vehicle in the area of Lorain Road and Windsor Road around 9:40 a.m., according to the San Marino Police Department. Alhambra firefighters assisted San Marino firefighters in extricating the injured woman. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The Pasadena Police Traffic Collision Investigation Team is assisting San Marino Police with the collision investigation. The oak tree fell across the road in the 800 block of Roanoke Road between Granada Avenue and Chelsea Road, leaving 3,800 customers without power, San Marino Police said. The tree reportedly fell around 2:33 p.m., according to the San Marino Fire Department. Southern California Edison is en route to assess the damage to equipment and San Marino workers are en route to remove the tree. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO - Police are searching for two men who robbed their victim of a cellphone after one of the suspects pointed a silver handgun against the victim’s head late Friday night.
The victim and his child both arrived to their residence in the 1200 block of St. Albans Road around 10:01 p.m. The child exited the vehicle and entered the home after the victim stopped. The victim drove the vehicle towards the end of the driveway and after exiting, came in contact with two men, San Marin Police said. One of the suspects pointed the silver handgun at the victim’s head and demanded the victim’s wallet, cellphone and watch, the latter was taken by the second suspect, San Marino Police said. The suspects fled east through the driveway to S.t Albans and towards Monterey Road. No one was injured. The armed suspect is described as a Black man in his 30s, 6 foot 2 inches tall to - 6 feet 3 inches tall, 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes. . The second suspect is also a Black male in his 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a black short sleeve t-shirt with white lettering in the front, black pants and black shoes. The suspect was found after hiding for nearly three hours in the garage in the 500 block of Huntington Drive, San Marino Police said. A patrol officer found two vehicles blocking the road on westbound Huntington Drive at Pasqualito Drive around 12:39 a.m. The officer was told by his dispatcher that one of the vehicles was reported stolen the day prior out of Pomona, San Marino Police said. The suspect fled when the officer ordered him to turn around. A lengthy search by San Marino, South Pasadena, San Gabriel, Alhambra and Pasadena Police yielded an arrest at 3:12 a.m. Manuel Hernandez, 23, was booked on suspicion of auto theft, resisting or delaying an officer, trespassing and methamphetamine possession. Hernandez is scheduled to appear at Alhambra Superior Court July 11. |
