The home burglary occurred around 6:37 p.m. in the 1900 block of Robin Road. While on scene, a neighbor reported two men fleeing through their backyard, San Marino Police said. A second neighbor reported seeing the two suspects on his surveillance system in the 2600 block of Lorain. A search by ground and by helicopter could not locate the suspects, who were only described as Black men. The suspect approached a home and spoke to a resident in the 1700 block of Oxford Road around 4:05 p.m. The suspect claimed to be conducting a research study for the city of San Marino and provided the name of someone. He asked the resident if that person lived there, to which the resident replied no, San Marino Police said. The city did not authorize any persons to conduct a research study, San Marino Police said. The suspect left, only to return seven minutes later and contacted the resident again. “The resident became suspicious and informed the subject they would be contacting the police. Male subject walked away from the residence and got into his parked vehicle,” San Marino Police said. The suspect drove away northbound on Oxford Road towards Euston Road. The suspect is an Asian man, 25 to 30 years old, has a medium build, short hair and wore a blue long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows. The suspect drove a grey, newer-model four-door BMW 540I with “New Century BMW” paper plates. Anyone who may have been contacted by the suspect is urged to call San Marino Police at 626-300-0720. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO - Two home burglaries occurred over a two-day span with suspects breaking their way in by shattering a glass door and window, police said. The first burglary occurred Thursday, April 19 around 7:50 a.m. in the 1700 block of Hilliard Drive. A resident heard the sound of shattering glass and discovered a female suspect who fled after being confronted, San Marino Police said. The suspect wore a baseball hat, dark glasses, a black bandana and unknown color pants and shirt. The next day at 10:20 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm in the 700 block of Canterbury Road. Officers discovered a shattered rear window and rear door forced open. Officers were unable to locate any suspects, San Marino Police said. One suspect wore a green hoodie with a “Cal” logo on the front, dark pants, dark shoes and white socks. The second suspect wore a green hoodie, dark pants, dark shoes and white socks.

Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO – Police and firefighters arrived to extinguish a truck fire and learned a man burned to death inside Monday morning.
The man found burned to death in the black Toyota truck around 8:39 a.m. allegedly drove to his former employer’s home and intentionally rammed her vehicle as she was attempting to leave, according to Sgt. Tim Tebbetts of the San Marino Police Department. The attack and death occurred in the 1600 block of Shenandoah Road. As the investigation began, the former employer just arrived to the San Marino Police Department after escaping the attack and reported the incident, Tebbetts said. “Witnesses stated after the victim left the scene, they saw the suspect pour a liquid substance over him and the vehicle. The suspect then ignited himself inside the vehicle,” Tebbetts said. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call San Marino Police Detective Qureshi at 626-300-0726.
