Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - A Hispanic man in his 40s was found deceased in the Rio Hondo flood control channel Thursday morning. The man’s body was discovered around 6:18 a.m. near Garvey Avenue and Rosemead Boulevard. Firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.
Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death, according to Lt. Williams of the Sheriff's Temple Station. An autopsy is pending. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to coroner Public Information Officer Sarah Ardalani. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - A driver was carjacked at gunpoint near Klingerman and Continental Avenue Wednesday night, deputies said. The carjacking occurred around 11 p.m. Two men took the victim’s 2016 Honda Accord. The victim’s cellphone was also taken, One of the suspects was armed with a black handgun, according to deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The Accord was seen being driven away westbound.
Both suspects appeared 25 years old. One suspect appears to be 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, has short black hair and wore a grey hooded sweatshirt. There was no description for the second suspect. |
