Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONROVIA - No one was injured in a large structure fire at Bradoaks Elementary School Wednesday morning.
First responders were sent to the school, 930 East Lemon Ave., around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 31. At least three units are affected by smoke damage. With the fire happening so early in the day, not all students were present at the school. There were no students inside any of the classes affected by the fire, according to Monrovia Fire Chief Jeremy Sanchez. Upon arrival, firefighters reported, smoke and fire showing from the building with active fire, and at least two units. Holes were cut through the roof to ventilate the structure to aid firefighters, Sanchez told SGV CityWatch. School staff and police officers evacuated students to the front of the school where parents at the time of this post are still continuing to pick up their children. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There is no dollar amount yet on the damage caused to the classrooms, Sanchez told SGV CityWatch. First responders were called to the area of South Alta Vista Avenue and West Central Avenue around 6:38 p.m. to a call of gunfire. Officers learned during the road rage, a driver shot at the other vehicle numerous times, according to the Monrovia Police Department. A suspect, nor a vehicle description were readily available. |
