The pedestrian was transported from the scene, according to Alex Gilman, City of Montebello public information officer. A current update on the pedestrian’s condition is not immediately known. Southbound Greenwood Avenue remains closed during an investigation and is scheduled to be reopened by 8 a.m.. Drivers can use Garfield Avenue or Bluff Road as alternate routes. A Montebello Police officer saw illegal aerial fireworks being set off near Beverly Boulevard and Concourse Avenue around 9 p.m. June 29. The officer discovered a small brush fire burning nearby, according to the Montebello Police Department. From the 500 block of Concourse, the officer followed a suspicious vehicle fleeing the area. After being stopped by the officer, the unidentified suspect admitted to lighting the fireworks and to starting the brush fire, Montebello Police said.
Montebello firefighters extinguished the small fire. The suspect was arrested and booked on suspicion of illegal fireworks possession and for outstanding warrants, Montebello Police said. The crash occurred in the 1100 block of West Whittier Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. The driver was extricated from the vehicle uninjured. It does not appear anyone else was injured either, according to the Montebello Fire Department. The exact address given initially is 1105 W. Whittier Blvd., which is listed as Fiesta Mexicana.

The fire was reported at 6 a.m. at 1500 Chapin Road December 29. Vernon firefighters are working with Montebello firefighters in unison to quell the pallet fire, according to authorities. The fire continues to burn more than two hours, according to Montebello Fire dispatch traffic.
