The man was hit by gunfire near the Best Star Inn, 7533 Telegraph Rd., around 10:15 p.m. September 20. The two suspects were involved in the road rage on Telegraph Road near Greenwood Avenue, according to the Montebello Police Department.
The wounded man is listed in critical but stable condition, Montebello Police said. It is unclear if the suspects were wounded. Suspect descriptions are not available. Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 800 block of North Garfield Avenue July 7. The victim is very uncooperative with investigators, providing little to no information on the circumstances, according to Lt. David Kim of the Montebello Police Department. Kim did not have the age of the male shot.
“We have an uncooperative victim who does not want to get involved,” Kim said. Eddie Herrera was named by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He is listed as a 49-year-old transient. Herrera was confronted by officers near 2nd Street and Victoria Avenue around 1:30 p.m. May 9 who were looking for suspects possibly smoking marijuana and drinking. The first Montebello officer on scene saw a man carrying a weapon. As backup was called, the officer-involved shooting occurred, Montebello Police said.
“Officers responded to the location regarding a disturbance call. When they arrived, they encountered the suspect, a male Hispanic adult, 49 years old holding a shot gun,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. “It appears at this time, that the suspect discharged the shotgun at least one time, and the Officers returned fire striking the suspect at least one time in the upper torso.” No officers were injured. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEBELLO - No one was injured after a pursuit ended with police gunfire in East Los Angeles, authorities said Saturday. Arrested was Tom Rojas, 37. Police began pursuing him after responding to a burglary call at The Shops Montebello, 2134 Montebello Town Center, around 3 a.m. after someone reported a vehicle crashed into the JC Penny store front, Montebello Police said. The pursuit ended after police fired at the suspect who then crashed near Alma and Whittier Boulevard after a K9 took Rojas down.
Rojas fled JC Penny after the initial burglary call, but was tracked to Pico Rivera where officers attempted to detain him, but he sped away, triggering a pursuit. Rojas allegedly drove recklessly along surface and tried to strike other vehicles and police vehicles on the road, Montebello Police said. Rojas has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder, felony evading and assault with a deadly weapon. Rojas is being held in lieu of $1.125 million bail. Whittier Blvd., around 10:33 p.m. January 18, according to Sgt. Rodriguez of the Montebello Police Department. There was apparently a struggle over the cash register and the clerk was shot, according to Lt. William Molinari of the Montebello Police Department. Two suspects are still outstanding. Their descriptions were not available, according to Sgt. Rodriguez of the Montebello Police Department.
Initially, according to Montebello Police radio traffic, the suspects were described as a man and woman. Cash was taken from the register. No other information is available. Police arrived to the scene in the 1300 block of South Greenwood Avenue around 7:50 p.m. and found the victim. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are investigating the shooting.

Police arriving to a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of Ferguson Drive around 11:30 p.m. found three wounded male adult victims. All three were hospitalized. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries, according to Montebello Police in a written statement. A suspect description was not provided. The suspect is wanted in connection with a restaurant shooting that took place August 18, according to Detective Sgt. Jennifer Carrera of the Montebello Police Department. The shooting at Mariscos El Bravo, 1125 Washington Blvd., left one victim badly injured around 1 a.m. Montebello Police chased a blood-stained vehicle to County/USC Medical Center, finally realizing a shooting victim was being taken by an acquaintance. Montebello detectives were searching for the suspect in East Los Angeles near South Ford Boulevard and Whittier Boulevard around 11 a.m. As Montebello detectives arrived to the area, they witnessed East Los Angeles deputies chasing after the suspect on foot after he reportedly fled deputies who tried to stop him for an unrelated incident, Carrera said. Carrera was unwilling to provide a suspect description because the investigation is still ongoing. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor MONTEBELLO - Police pursued a high-speed, blood-stained vehicle through surface streets into County/USC Medical Center Saturday morning, later realizing the driver was transporting someone who was shot.
The shooting took place in the parking lot of Mariscos El Bravo, 1125 Washington Blvd., sometime after 1 a.m. A woman transported the shooting victim from the restaurant to County/USC Medical Center where the victim is being treated, according to Lt. Boris Zeissig of the Montebello Police Department. The relationship between the victim and the driver is not immediately known. Detectives are continuing to search for witnesses to the shooting, as well as surveillance footage from nearby businesses, Zeissig said. While Zeissig did not have an update on the victim’s condition, he said hospital staff have not alerted Montebello Police if a death occurred. A Montebello officer on patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle he said had a large amount of blood on a passenger door near Beverly Boulevard and Margaret Avenue, according to Montebello Police radio traffic. The driver sped along surface streets, running red lights through East Los Angeles and Los Angeles, eventually being followed by East Los Angeles Deputies as well as Montebello Police. Once the driver stopped at the emergency room entrance to County/USC, officers realized the driver was transporting a shooting victim, Montebello Police said. A verbal argument at the Mariscos El Bravo may have led to the shooting. A suspect description was not immediately known.
