Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking other potential victims of a woman arrested on suspicion of taking thousands from her elder victim. Sheila Paguirigan Solis, 42, was arrested January 14 after detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Elder Fraud Team began investigating claims of theft in November. The alleged crime occurred from April 2015 to August 2016, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Solis, who also goes by Sheila May Heribito and Sheila May Paguirigan, took as much as $100,000 from her elder victim whom she cared for in La Canada Flintridge, using cash withdrawals and bank checks issued from the victim’s account, the Sheriff’s Department said. “Solis has a previous conviction for financial elder abuse, but did not disclose this and other convictions at the time she began working as the victim’s caregiver. It is unknown if Solis has worked as a caregiver since being terminated by the victim’s family,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Solis November 25, 2019 and filed two felony counts including grand theft from an elder and burglary. A warrant was issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody outside her Glendale home January 14, the Sheriff’s Department said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - A motorcyclist who crash with another vehicle died after being hospitalized, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s lieutenant said. The crash happened on Angeles Crest Highway near Gould Mesa January 19. The rider was northbound when he collided with another vehicle, according to Lt. Lopez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station. The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. The road remains closed during an investigation, Lopez said.
The other driver is cooperating with deputies. The victim is only described as an adult male, Lopez said. |
