 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Sheriff’s detectives are asking for public assistance and identifying to women caught on ring camera, taking multiple packages from a home last December. The package thefts were caught December 21, 2022, around 4:41 p.m. in the 5000 block of Princess Anne Road. Both suspects entered a 2001 to 2004 silver Nissan Frontier extended cab pickup from the passenger side. The truck was possibly occupied by a third suspect. The license plate on the truck is from another vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The first suspect is described as a Latino female with a slim build, long brown hair, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and red shoes. The second suspect is described as a white female with a medium build, long highlighted blonde hair, large fake eyelashes, wearing a black Nike sports bra, red leggings, black jacket with red on it and black shoes. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE – Detectives seek a man who was caught on security camera attempting to rob a victim as the victim withdrew cash from an ATM August 4.
The crime was recorded at 5:41 p.m. in the 500 block of Foothill Boulevard. The suspect waited near the ATM and as the victim withdrew the funds, the suspect ran up behind the victim, grabbed the victim’s arm and attempted to take the cash, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “The victim screamed and resisted, causing the suspect to run away without obtaining any money,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The suspect is described as a white man 20 to 25 years old who stands 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weights 150 to 180 pounds. He wore a yellow baseball cap with the numbers “888” embroidered in purple, gold-framed aviator sunglasses, a black neck gaiter, a black Kenzo tiger print sweater, black sweat pants, black shoes and he carried a dark gray Gucci satchel. The suspect has tattoos on his left hand and fingers. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Deputies are looking for a man who assaulted a district employee while at an elementary school campus June 15.
The suspect trespasser was approached by a district employee at La Cañada Elementary School, 4540 Encinas Dr., around 10:50 a.m. The suspect punched the employee after being confronted about trespassing and fled the school, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The campus remains closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The suspect drove away in a grey Lexus SUV, possibly a 2003-2008 Lexus RX, deputies said. The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, has a muscular build, brown hair and blue eyes. He wore a grey long-sleeved shirt, navy blue shorts and carried two duffle bags. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call Crescenta Valley Station Detective Burt at 818-236-4014.  Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - A man and woman were arrested this week after a GPS device help law enforcement track down the duo accused of burglarizing a home and taking the victims vehicle. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station aided by the Los Angeles County Auto Theft Task Force tracked down the man and woman to Woodland Hills where they were reportedly committing more crimes before being found and arrested, deputies said. A home was burglarized February 23 and the 800 block of Green Ridge Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. Keys to the victims vehicle and miscellaneous items were taken. Two days later, the victim discovered their vehicle was stolen from the home, deputies said.
Authorities found the stolen vehicle in Woodland Hills being driven by a woman from Glendale. Following her, was with authorities described as a chase vehicle being driven by a man from Los Angeles. The driver of the chase vehicle was pulled over and detained. The woman in the stolen vehicle stopped and fled on foot before finally being taken into custody, deputies said. The woman was found in possession of the stolen key, as well as illegal narcotics with the intent to sell, deputies said. The victim’s stolen vehicle was recovered. The man was booked at Crescenta Valley Station on suspicion of burglary, driving a vehicle without owner’s consent and possession of burglary tools. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking other potential victims of a woman arrested on suspicion of taking thousands from her elder victim. Sheila Paguirigan Solis, 42, was arrested January 14 after detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Elder Fraud Team began investigating claims of theft in November. The alleged crime occurred from April 2015 to August 2016, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Solis, who also goes by Sheila May Heribito and Sheila May Paguirigan, took as much as $100,000 from her elder victim whom she cared for in La Canada Flintridge, using cash withdrawals and bank checks issued from the victim’s account, the Sheriff’s Department said. “Solis has a previous conviction for financial elder abuse, but did not disclose this and other convictions at the time she began working as the victim’s caregiver. It is unknown if Solis has worked as a caregiver since being terminated by the victim’s family,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Solis November 25, 2019 and filed two felony counts including grand theft from an elder and burglary. A warrant was issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody outside her Glendale home January 14, the Sheriff’s Department said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Investigators are seeking more potential victims of a trio of burglars arrested after fleeing a crash at the end of a brief, but dangerous chase. The burglars, already linked to one home burglary, may have hit an additional home November 10 before a deputy attempted to stop them as they descended Angeles Crest Highway. The pursuing deputy cancelled the chase due to the reckless driving of the suspect behind the wheel -- minutes later, the driver crashed the Lexus in Glendale on the southbound 2 freeway. Deputies searched the crashed Lexus and found jewelry and other items confirmed stolen from one home. “The suspects are believed to have committed a second residential burglary earlier the same morning on the 5500 block of Burning Tree Drive,” deputies said in a written statement.
All three suspects wee booked on suspicion of residential burglary. The driver was additionally booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and evading a peace officer. The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Burglary-Robbery Task Force are handling the investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Deputies searching for a man suspected in two separate weapon brandishing incidents apprehended a suspect November 6 who was reportedly found with narcotics and a weapon in his vehicle. The unidentified suspect is believed to have brandished a weapon in the area of Berkshire Place and Berkshire Avenue Tuesday, November 5. One day later, a similar suspect brandished a weapon in a fast food restaurant in the 400 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley station.
A La Cañada Flintridge community service officer spotted a vehicle similar to that driven by the suspect, discovered in the upper parking lot of Hahamonga Park near foothill Boulevard and Oak Grove Drive. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDALE - Three burglary suspects were jailed Sunday after crashing their vehicle during a 100 mile per hour pursuit. A large amount of jewelry was found inside the crashed black vehicle on the Mountain Street offramp from the southbound 2 freeway November 10. A perimeter search helped to locate the three suspects according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. A deputy attempted a traffic stop on a reckless vehicle on the southbound 2 freeway. The pursuit was canceled due to high speeds but seconds later the deputy located the crashed the suspect vehicle. After discovering the jewelry, deputies learned that a residential burglary occurred in La Cañada Flintridge in the 800 block of Lynnhaven Lane, deputies said.
The burglary victims arrived to the scene of the crash and were able to confirm the stolen jewelry was theirs, deputies said. The three suspects were booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of burglary.  Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - One resident suffered a facial abrasion after being punched while breaking up a home burglary September 2. Residents arrived home and found two suspects in hooded sweatshirts burglarizing the master bedroom in the 4200 block of Shepherds Lane. the residents began defending themselves, according to Lt. Chad Smeltzer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. Deputies were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. Monday. A suspect pushed one of the homeowners against a wall and punched him a few times resulting in a small facial abrasion. A second resident used a wooden interior dog fence and began swinging it at another burglar, Smeltzer said.
“It appeared [the suspects] had been in there for some time burglarizing the place,” Smeltzer said. “It appears some items were stolen and one of those items was a firearm.” The firearm turned out to be an antique shotgun. Both suspects fled into a dark vehicle, which was driven away south from the neighborhood. Cash and other items were also taken. The suspects entered through a damaged rear glass door, Smeltzer said.

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - A man dressed in a blue hoodie removed a security camera before entering a home to take miscellaneous items June 5.
The burglary occurred around 7:10 p.m. in the 5200 block of Vista Lejana Lane. The suspect was recorded on the property just before the surveillance camera was removed. Jewelry, handbags and other items were taken, according to Detective Burt at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station.
