CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - A man allegedly armed with a gun was killed by deputy gunfire Wednesday night. The investigation unfolded in the 3000 block of Sullivan Avenue. It is unclear what led the deputy to open fire. No one else was hit by gunfire. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - An investigation continues on the eastbound I-10 Freeway just west of Rosemead Boulevard after a pedestrian was found deceased. A driver reported to the California Highway Patrol about a possible body laying in either the No. 3 and 4 lanes just before 6 a.m. and possibly blood on the road October 19. It was not immediately clear if the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. A motorcycle was found either crashed or abandoned on Hellman Avenue near the scene, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. A license plate was found along the roadway. The registered owner lives in San Bernardino and police were summoned to the home to see if the vehicle is parked there and has collision damage, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - An investigation is underway to determine what led deputies to shoot a woman to death Thursday. The woman is described as an arson suspect and was reportedly refusing to exit a residence in the 8700 block of Scott Street February 27. Deputies served a search warrant and when deputies entered the home a shooting occurred, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The woman was taken to a hospital where she died, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. No deputies were hit by gunfire. Per protocol, multiple independent investigations into the shooting began, including investigations by the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, Internal Affairs Bureau and Office of Inspector General. A preliminary review is conducted by the Critical Incident Review Panel to determine whether any immediate actions are warranted. Every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee. Input from Constitutional Policing Advisors is provided during the process, according to the Sheriff’s Department. “The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Justice System Integrity Division, conducts a legal analysis to determine whether any criminal charges will be filed and if the shooting was legally justified,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - A man underwent surgery for wounds sustained in a shooting February 11. The shooting occurred in the 7700 block of Garvey Avenue around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. A white SUV with two occupants was seen fleeing the area westbound on Garvey, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The man was shot in the stomach area. It is unclear Saturday if a motive was found. The man shot was reportedly uncooperative with deputies, according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station. Suspect descriptions were not immediately available. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - A robbery suspect was arrested Sunday after being shot at, but uninjured by a deputy. Deputies confronted the robbery suspect after being called to the 8600 block of Garvey Avenue January 5 around 12:50 p.m. “Upon arrival, deputies encountered the suspect, who was in possession of a firearm. A deputy involved shooting occurred. The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody. There were no deputies or civilians injured,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The 8600 block of Garvey Avenue remains closed for the investigation. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - Homicide detectives are unraveling the events that led to a man’s death early Friday morning. A man was discovered shot dead in the 7700 block of Garvey Avenue in Rosemead Friday, November 29. First responders were called to the scene around 2:48 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It is not publicly clear if detectives have discovered a motive, or a suspect description. Garvey Avenue between Jackson Avenue and Evelyn Avenue remains closed. CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - Sheriff’s investigators announced the arrest of a young couple in connection with the death of their 1-year-old child. Leslie Garcia, 20, was arrested and booked on suspicion of child abuse. Jonathan Salazar, 21, was booked on suspicion of murder, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. First responders found the child in medical distress and not breathing November 9 in a home in the 2600 block of Strathmore Avenue after being dispatched around 7 p.m. The child is treated and taken to a hospital where the child died November November 15, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Medical staff alerted deputies to the child’s multiple physical injuries. The Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau assumed the investigation and arrested Garcia November 12. Upon the child’s death, Sheriff’s homicide investigators took over the case and discovered additional evidence to arrest Salazar on suspicion of murder November 22. The 1-year-old child has a sibling who is currently in protective custody with the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services. Salazar is being held in lieu of $5 million bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pomona Superior Court November 26. First responders were sent to a home in the 3200 block of Gladys Avenue around 5:46 p.m. April 23. The victim, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene. First responders were called to be 3300 block of muscatel Avenue just after 8 a.m. to a medical emergency call. The victim, only described as an Asian male in his early or mid 50s, was found with abrasions to his upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “Investigators learned the victim was involved in a physical altercation with another male and had been pushed down to the ground during the incident. The male suspect was last seen north on Muscatel Avenue and out of view,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement.
