Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - A teen threatening to jump from an overpass climbed to a waiting female deputy Saturday evening. The teen climbed out from San Gabriel Boulevard to outside the chain link fence over eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway. Deputies who arrived immediately began talking with the teen, according to Lt. Vienna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Temple Station were called to the scene at 6:13 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Mental Evaluation Team, crisis negotiators began arriving, Vienna said. The teen refused to speak to male deputies on scene and requested a female deputy to talk to, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. “Once we had a female deputy establish communication with the patient, she did come over on her own and has been taken to a hospital for an evaluation,” Vienna told SGV CityWatch. |
