SOUTH PASADENA - A boy described as a high-functioning autistic was reunited with his mother after the boy unlocked the front door and walked away from home, police said.

The boy was discovered wandering in the 1400 block of Grevelia Street around 7 p.m. He was gone for a few minutes when a neighbor walking her dog found the boy, according to Sgt. Matthew Ronnie of the South Pasadena Police Department.

The neighbor walked the boy to the station, which is roughly one block from where the boy and mother live, Ronnie said.

“The neighbor saw the child’s picture on Facebook and called the mom,” Ronnie said. “She came to the station immediately.”

The Department of Child and Family Services spoke with the mother to help provide information on resources for the child.

SOUTH PASADENA - A suspect wanted after an attempted December 2018 robbery of a jewelry store was finally caught May 29, police said.

Marcus Harris, 19, was detained by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop Wednesday. South Pasadena Police detectives were called and took Harris into custody. He was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the South Pasadena Police Department.

Harris and another suspect, Omar Teriq Bradley, 22, are accused of attempting to rob Vana Watch and Jewelry, 1401 Mission St., on December 14, 2018. Bradley was identified within days of the failed robbery, found and arrested, South Pasadena Police said.

Bradley and Harris pretended to be interested in some of the front counter items at the store when one of the suspects produced a knife, pointed it at the store owner and demanded all the watches, South Pasadena Police said.

The owner defended himself against the knife-wielding suspect, while fending off an attack from the other suspect, who was wearing metal knuckles.

One of the employees produced a black handgun and scared off the suspects who fled the store, with at least three employees giving chase on foot.

Bradley was given a custody release February 21 and was incarcerated in Wasco State Prison in Kern County, according to Los Angeles County booking records. A specific reason was not listed.
