The shooting took place in the 14200 block of Shaver Street around 5:30 p.m. December 1. Deputies found a spent .9 millimeter bullet lodged in the home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The gunfire came from south of Amar Road and into the back of the home. A witness reported to deputies an older, dark-colored SUV occupied by two Hispanic men fleeing westbound on Homeward Street towards Sunkist Avenue. The unidentified driver and passenger fled El Monte Police just after 5 a.m. November 2. The pursuit barely lasted two minutes before the suspects were taken into custody, according to Lt. Ernie Kramer of the El Monte Police Department. El Monte officers were in La Puente to serve the search warrant and located their suspect driving in the area. The officers trailed the suspect when he fled from them, initiating the chase, Kramer said. The driver crashed through a fence in the 800 block of Stichman Avenue and hit a wall. No one was injured, Kramer said. The booking information for both suspects was not available. Kramer could not provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation. One victim was shot in the buttocks, a second shot in the stomach in the 200 block of Santa Mariana Avenue around 12:14 a.m. Two suspects approached both victims, who are described as Black men in their 20s, and one of the fire upon the victims with a 40-caliber handgun, according to Lt. Hugo Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The victims ran to a nearby McDonald’s, 13814 Valley Blvd., where help was summoned. Both victims are labeled in stable condition, Reynaga said. The suspects, described as Hispanic men, fled the area. The motive is unclear. The victims become uncooperative as deputies asked them questions, Reynaga said. Passing motorists witnessed the 20-something man walking in the middle of Temple Avenue and Valley Boulevard around 11:40 p.m. The man was bleeding from the chest, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station radio traffic. The man was taken to an area hospital. The man was last listed in stable condition, according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies could not locate the suspect, Garcia said. The suspect was known to the victim. Deputies, aided by a helicopter, searched for the suspect, who is likely a transient living in or near an encampment around the 605 freeway at Valley Boulevard, deputies said. The suspect was seen sitting in a vehicle on Temple Avenue around 5:30 p.m. The suspect was known to deputies and he fled from them while they tried to detain him, according to Lt. Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled into his residence, not too far from where he was sitting in the stolen vehicle. Deputies converged on the home and called on the suspect to surrender, Reynaga said. Two occupants of the home exited and were detained before the suspect finally surrendered. The two other occupants are detained until the home can be searched. No booking information was available for the armed suspect. The man was injured in the 13600 block of Homeward Street around 9:20 a.m. The 24-year-old man sustained severe injuries to both hands and needed to be taken by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The search is on in the 800 block of North Feather Avenue. One suspect was found after he made his way to the roof of a home. There are potentially three suspects still inside a home on Feather, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The suspects fled into the home after hopping over walls. A resident left his home to tend to his vehicle. When witnesses alerted the man that people fled into his home, he found the front door locked, deputies said. A search warrant is being written to enter the home and detain any suspects inside. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor BASSETT - The mother of two toddlers who allegedly kidnapped her children was arrested after colliding with a bus during a high-speed pursuit Tuesday night.
The as-of-yet unidentified woman allegedly took her children, whome she does not share custody of, during a supervised visitation at a Department of Children and Family Services office in Ladera Heights March 27. The woman took her kids and fled around 1 p.m. when she was left unsupervised. Deputies somehow tracked the suspect’s cellphone and was traced to Whittier where she fled, deputies said. Whittier Police located the suspect parked in a lot in the 11800 block of Whittier Boulevard and tried to stop her, Whittier Police said. The pursuit entered the San Gabriel Valley around 7 p.m. after exiting the northbound 605 freeway at Peck Road. The suspect fled onto surface streets at around 90 miles per hour at times. The suspect then struck a Foothill Transit bus that occupied by riders and a driver at Valley Boulevard near Vineland Avenue. “The suspect then tried to run from the accident, leaving her children behind but was apprehended moments later,” Whittier Police said. Sheriff’s deputies took the suspect into custody and the two uninjured children were returned to DCFS officials. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Marina Del Rey Station, which patrols the Ladera Heights area, has not yet returned a call for booking information. |
