Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH PASADENA - Some sort of verbal fisticuffs led to gunfire at a public park Friday morning.
Officers responded to Garfield Park, 1750 Mission St., around 11:21 a.m. Friday, February 23. A verbal confrontation between two people escalated to gunfire. A single shot was fired from Park Avenue into the park, but no one was hit, according to the South Pasadena Police Department. The suspect, only described as a Latino male in a pink hooded sweatshirt and balaclava-type ski mask, entered a waiting vehicle possibly occupied by two others. The was described as an older-model blue Toyota Camry, according to the South Pasadena Police Department. Investigators determined the vehicle’s license plate and tracked it and the juvenile driver to the northeast area of Los Angeles. The driver, and sole occupant, were taken into custody. It is not publicly clear if investigators have arrested the two other people seen in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
