BASSETT - Deputies announced the suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman and accused of holding her against her will was taken into custody Saturday morning.
Deputies announced the arrest of the unidentified man at 4:12 a.m July 20. Industry Station detectives approached the home where the suspect was hiding. He emerged at the front door and was arrested without further incident, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Deputies spoke with a woman at a home in the 200 block of South Covina Boulevard in Bassett just before 7 p.m. Friday. She claimed she was held against her will and was sexually assaulted. She had visible signs of injury, deputies said.
The woman was hospitalized.
The suspect refused to leave the home. A perimeter was set up around the residence and crisis negotiators talked with the man to get him to surrender peacefully, Liu said.
