Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BASSETT - Deputies are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon from New Year’s Day in which the suspect nearly hit two victims with a vehicle and allegedly brandished an AK-47. The incident occurred before 9:30 p.m. near Valley Boulevard and Santa Mariana Avenue January 1, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s crime broadcast. Two victims were walking across an intersection when a vehicle was driven up and almost hit them. The victims continued walking to a liquor store and once they exited, the suspect pointed a weapon at them and drove away, according to Sgt. Kline of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled in the Camry westbound on Valley Boulevard, according to the crime broadcast.
Kline was unsure if the suspect was identified, or recognized by anyone as being local to the area. The suspect was described in the crime broadcast by the victims as a Black man 25 to 30 years old with long blonde dreadlocks. He stood 6 feet tall. |
