Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Investigators are seeking more potential victims of a trio of burglars arrested after fleeing a crash at the end of a brief, but dangerous chase. The burglars, already linked to one home burglary, may have hit an additional home November 10 before a deputy attempted to stop them as they descended Angeles Crest Highway. The pursuing deputy cancelled the chase due to the reckless driving of the suspect behind the wheel -- minutes later, the driver crashed the Lexus in Glendale on the southbound 2 freeway. Deputies searched the crashed Lexus and found jewelry and other items confirmed stolen from one home. “The suspects are believed to have committed a second residential burglary earlier the same morning on the 5500 block of Burning Tree Drive,” deputies said in a written statement.
All three suspects wee booked on suspicion of residential burglary. The driver was additionally booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and evading a peace officer. The Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and Burglary-Robbery Task Force are handling the investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - Deputies searching for a man suspected in two separate weapon brandishing incidents apprehended a suspect November 6 who was reportedly found with narcotics and a weapon in his vehicle. The unidentified suspect is believed to have brandished a weapon in the area of Berkshire Place and Berkshire Avenue Tuesday, November 5. One day later, a similar suspect brandished a weapon in a fast food restaurant in the 400 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley station.
A La Cañada Flintridge community service officer spotted a vehicle similar to that driven by the suspect, discovered in the upper parking lot of Hahamonga Park near foothill Boulevard and Oak Grove Drive. Deputies safely detained the suspect at Hahamonga Park and are working to establish a connection between the previous weapon brandishing incidents. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - A Sig Alert was issued after a crane carried on a big rig overturned on the No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the east 210 freeway Saturday. The overturned crane and big rig are blocking lanes near Berkshire Place. The crane is estimated at 50,000 pounds, according to the California Highway Patrol. The No., 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes are expected to ve blocked for an unknown duration, the CHP said. The crash was reported at 4:22 p.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - One resident suffered a facial abrasion after being punched while breaking up a home burglary September 2. Residents arrived home and found two suspects in hooded sweatshirts burglarizing the master bedroom in the 4200 block of Shepherds Lane. the residents began defending themselves, according to Lt. Chad Smeltzer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. Deputies were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. Monday. A suspect pushed one of the homeowners against a wall and punched him a few times resulting in a small facial abrasion. A second resident used a wooden interior dog fence and began swinging it at another burglar, Smeltzer said.
“It appeared [the suspects] had been in there for some time burglarizing the place,” Smeltzer said. “It appears some items were stolen and one of those items was a firearm.” The firearm turned out to be an antique shotgun. Both suspects fled into a dark vehicle, which was driven away south from the neighborhood. Cash and other items were also taken. The suspects entered through a damaged rear glass door, Smeltzer said. Sierra Alisabeth Milam, 24, was last seen around 1:30 p.m. as she left home July 27 in the 700 block of Saint Katherine Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Milam’s family is concerned for her well being. Milam is white, 24 years old, stands 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds, has short red hair, has blue/hazel eyes and has “Pepper” tattooed on her right leg.

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE - A man dressed in a blue hoodie removed a security camera before entering a home to take miscellaneous items June 5.
The burglary occurred around 7:10 p.m. in the 5200 block of Vista Lejana Lane. The suspect was recorded on the property just before the surveillance camera was removed. Jewelry, handbags and other items were taken, according to Detective Burt at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. A one-hour Sig Alert was issued at 12:14 p.m. for the Angeles Crest offramp at the eastbound 210 freeway. At least one vehicle overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The suspect was taken into custody before noon after the suspect refused to surrender on the southbound 2 Freeway onramp south of Foothill Boulevard, according to Sgt. Taylor of the Los Angeles County Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. No one was injured.
The assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the 500 block of Foothill Boulevard at 10:13 a.m., Taylor said. What led to the assault with a deadly weapon was not immediately known. A Sig Alert was issued about one hour ago at the Foothill Boulevard onramp to the southbound 2 Freeway. The retaining wall became compromised sometime before 11 a.m. in the 2100 block of Foothill Boulevard. A home above the retaining wall at 2140 Tondolea Ln was red-tagged. The area near the compromised retaining wall has been taped off, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The bear was spotted in a backyard in the 4800 block of Daleridge around Noon. Nearby La Cañada High School, St. Francis High School and Crestview Preparatory School were temporarily locked down, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. Once the bear took refuge in a tree about one hour ago, the school lockdowns were lifted. |
