The fire burned in the 1200 block of North Aileron Avenue around 5:11 p.m. in a single-story home June 17. The conditions of the victims and the extent of damage was not immediately known. The gunshot victim, described as a man in his early 20s, was being sent to a nearby trauma center from Queen of the Valley Hospital, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The gunshot victim was being transferred to the trauma center when deputies became aware of the shooting just before 6 p.m. “People picked him up with his family and drove him to the hospital. He was already being put in the ambulance when we got the call,” Long told SGV CityWatch. Deputies are also working a potentially-related incident in the area of Valinda Avenue and Wing Lane where gunfire was reported March 16. Bullets were reportedly fired into the air, Long told SGV CityWatch. No other information is available. The shooting was reported at 9:31 p.m. near Maple Grove Street and Aileron Avenue February 20, according to Sgt. Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. No one was hit by gunfire. A more accurate suspect description was available. The shooting was reported to deputies at 9:45 p.m. in the 900 block of West Valinda December 10. Deputies were told a white sedan with tinted windows sped away from the scene after gunfire rang out, according to Sgt. Kneubuhler of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The shooting is likely gang related. The home is a known gang hideout, Kneubuhler said. One woman inside the home was described as being in her 40s. The other is in her 70s, Kneubuhler said. The white sedan sped north on Cabana Avenue. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - Two people are expected to survive their wounds after being shot outside a home Saturday afternoon. The shooting unfolded in the 500 block of Lidford Avenue around 4:55 p.m. December 7. The suspects remain at-large. A vehicle found abandoned nearby may have been connected to the incident, according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. "An eyewitness said they saw three individuals run from that vehicle," Garcia said.
A perimeter search is still underway. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Streets are assisting with the search. The suspects are two Hispanic men and a Hispanic woman, Garcia said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - A man was fatally injured by an alleged drive-by shooter Monday night, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. The shooting occurred in the area of Walnut Avenue and Doublegrove Street just after 9 p.m. November 11. “One male was shot ... and ultimately he succumbed from his injuries,” according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The victim, only described as a 20-year-old male, was shot at or near his home, long said.
It is unclear if a description was obtained for the shooter. A dark-colored four-door sedan was seen speeding away from the shooting, Long said. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are on scene investigating and although they state there is no known motive for the killing, Long said the shooting is likely gang related. The robbery occurred sometime before 8 p.m. when a male in a black hooded sweatshirt, black Dickies and a black ski mask brandished a black semi-automatic handgun at City Market, 15790 Maplegrove St. September 30, according to Sgt. Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. No one was injured during the robbery, Martinez said.
Nothing else other than the cash was taken. The suspect fled from the store and was seen escaping on foot, Martinez said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - The passenger of a vehicle received a graze wound to the head in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Department said. A second victim was hit in the ankle by gunfire while inside his home from a stray bullet from the same gunman in a Kia. The vehicle-to-vehicle shooting occurred on Sunset Avenue near Blackwood Street around 2:10 a.m. September 27. A suspect inside the kia targeted another driver at Blackwood and Sunset. The driver was uninjured, deputies said.
A man reportedly inside a home in the 14000 block of Sauder Street was hit in the ankle, deputies said. A description of the gunman was unavailable. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - Deputies arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he led then on a pursuit and took refuge in a home. The unidentified suspect hid in a home near Frandale Avenue and Pocono Street when the pursuit stopped at a dead end September 3. The suspect was wanted for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, according to Lt. Garcia of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies began pursuing the unidentified driver near Hacienda Boulevard and Francisquito Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Garcia said. The suspect ran through residential yards before taking refuge in a home. It is unclear if the suspect is a resident of the home he was arrested in, or if he may know the residents.
Deputies entered the home and arrested the suspect without further incident around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, Garcia said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - A man estimated in his 40s died after being hit by a vehicle before 10 p.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol and a Sheriff’s sergeant said. The collision occurred on Amar Road west of Echelon Avenue June 14. The injured man was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina where he was pronounced dead, according to Officer Patrick Kimball of the CHP Traffic Management Center.
