Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - The hiding suspect who forced a school to go on lockdown Monday was found after taking refuge in a resident’s shed. Jose Padilla, 22, was found in a shed after fleeing through yards in the 1200 block of Baseline Road. Padilla, the driver, fled the vehicle officers were pursuing after driving into a cul-de-sac on Derby Drive, according to La Verne Police. Padilla’s passenger, 20-year-old Jacob Murakami was immediately arrested after the chase ended and was found possessing a loaded handgun, La Verne Police said.
The pursuit began at 11 a.m. A Sheriff’s helicopter was called in to assist a K9 search. The Claremont K9 subdued Padilla, who suffered moderate injuries to his left arm, La Verne Police said. Both suspect were booked on suspicion of vehicle theft. Padilla was additionally booked for a no-bail warrant and was also on Post Release Community Supervision. Murakami was additionally booked for carrying a loaded firearm. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Pomona Superior Court Wednesday, May 1. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - A man in an Isuzu Rodeo was caught on camera taking mail from residential mailboxes one month ago, La Verne Police said Monday. The suspect was caught on camera around 6:43 a.m. March 3. He fled in the silver Isuzu Rodeo two-door, which sports a black stripe on the hood and black plastic tarp tied to the rear. The Rodeo sports license plate number 4GGA809. The suspect is a white or Hispanic man with a heavy build and beard. He wore a grey hooded sweatshirt black baseball hat with a white logo on the front, black pants and dark shoes with white soles.
