Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - Like something out of an action movie, a stolen vehicle suspect burned rubber in and out of surface streets and freeways before coming to a spectacular end Tuesday.
The vehicle involved was reported stolen in Upland. At 4 p.m., Upland PD informed La Verne Police of the stolen ride’s location at Williams Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. The vehicle was intercepted, but the driver refused to stop, according to the La Verne Police Department. The chase took to the west I-10 freeway where a female passenger attempted to flee while the stolen ride was in motion, but she was pulled back in by the driver, according to the La Verne Police Department. The passenger was eventually freed from the stolen vehicle, which slowed enough for her to escape, according to the La Verne Police Department. The pursuit continued in and off the I-10 freeway until the driver clipped the front end of another vehicle at South Barranca Street and East Garvey Avenue North and overturned. The driver, who remains publicly unidentified, received injuries considered not life-threatening. The suspect was booked on suspicion of felony evading, domestic violence and false imprisonment, according to the La Verne Police Department. |
