One of the suspects, Demarcus Johnson, was jailed after police arrived to the scene December 26 and a set a containment search. Two remaining suspects, Angel Baltazar and Angel Sandoval, escaped capture that day, but were located through detective work, La Verne Police said. Police responding to two burglary calls found rear glass sliding doors smashed and jewelry taken, La Verne Police said in a written statement. Police responded to a third home when the homeowner interrupted the crime in progress and called 9-1-1. Johnson was found during a search and arrested. Unsuccessful attempts were made to speak with a La Verne Police supervisor to learn the times and locations for each burglary. “La Verne Detectives immediately set about identifying and locating them,” La Verne Police said. “Through witness testimony and external surveillance video, Detectives were quickly able to identify the suspects, who were also believed to be Rialto residents.” With the help of the Rialto Police Department, search warrants were served at the homes of Baltazar and Sandoval December 29. Both men were arrested and evidence taken in the burglary was seized, La Verne Police said. |
