Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor LA VERNE – A man groped a woman as he walked into the La Verne Public Library and spied on a female in the restroom Thursday.
The incident occurred around 12:13 p.m. inside the library, 3640 D Street. The man entered the library and walked past a female, squeezing her buttocks and brushing up against her. He was then seen near the woman’s restroom, La Verne Police said. A female patron was using the restroom and saw the man peeking over her stall. When he was caught peeking at the female, the suspect fled the library through emergency doors on the south side of the library, La Verne Police said. Witnesses saw the suspect fleeing towards the north side of Foothill Boulevard west of Fruit Street. While officers were searching for the suspect, a woman in a nearby mobile home park reported seeing a man steal her white 1999 Buick Century. The grand theft auto suspect matched the description of the sexual assault suspect. The man seen fleeing in the stolen car removed his shirt and sweatshirt before leaving. Officers recovered both articles of clothing. The suspect is a Hispanic man in his late 20s, is 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin, has a shaved head, wore baggy jeans, a royal blue “dry fit”-style shirt and a white and black hoodie with camouflage print. The Buick Century has a license plate number of 5HV674. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call the La Verne Police Department at 909-596-1913. |
