The robbery was reported at the 76 gas station, 13106 Valley Blvd., around 4:16 p.m. May 25. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man who wore all blue denim also a pink bandana, according to Lt. Baker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled in a tan or gold vehicle that was only described as a Toyota. Baker had no other information on the model of Toyota. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BASSETT - Deputies are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon from New Year’s Day in which the suspect nearly hit two victims with a vehicle and allegedly brandished an AK-47. The incident occurred before 9:30 p.m. near Valley Boulevard and Santa Mariana Avenue January 1, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s crime broadcast. Two victims were walking across an intersection when a vehicle was driven up and almost hit them. The victims continued walking to a liquor store and once they exited, the suspect pointed a weapon at them and drove away, according to Sgt. Kline of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled in the Camry westbound on Valley Boulevard, according to the crime broadcast.
Kline was unsure if the suspect was identified, or recognized by anyone as being local to the area. The suspect was described in the crime broadcast by the victims as a Black man 25 to 30 years old with long blonde dreadlocks. He stood 6 feet tall. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BASSETT - An identified suspect is still at-large one day after firing a shotgun at a male victim. The shooting took place in the 1000 block of Le Borgne Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, August 18. The victim’s condition was not immediate known after he was transported to an area hospital, according to Sgt. Matthew Shackelford of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station.
The suspect ran southbound from the scene after firing. As of Monday night, Shackelford had no information regarding a suspect arrest. The incident is gang related. Deputies who responded to the scene were told the suspect shouted “Bassett Grande,” according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Deputies learned the identity of the suspect and detectives are now handling the investigation, Shackelford said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor BASSETT - Deputies announced the suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman and accused of holding her against her will was taken into custody Saturday morning. Deputies announced the arrest of the unidentified man at 4:12 a.m July 20. Industry Station detectives approached the home where the suspect was hiding. He emerged at the front door and was arrested without further incident, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies spoke with a woman at a home in the 200 block of South Covina Boulevard in Bassett just before 7 p.m. Friday. She claimed she was held against her will and was sexually assaulted. She had visible signs of injury, deputies said.
The woman was hospitalized. The suspect refused to leave the home. A perimeter was set up around the residence and crisis negotiators talked with the man to get him to surrender peacefully, Liu said. Industry Station deputies responded to the shooting at 2:20 a.m. They arrived and found one man outside the location, 13217 Valley Blvd., unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. “The suspect drove his vehicle alongside two victims. The suspect exited the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the victims,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The victim died at the scene. No suspect or vehicle description is available. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. The shooting took place in the 13200 block of Valley Boulevard at 2:22 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim died at the scene.
While the precise location was no yet given, the shooting may have taken place at or near Bliss Showgirls, 13217 Valley Boulevard, according to a CityWatch reader who works in the area. The shooting took place in the 14200 block of Shaver Street around 5:30 p.m. December 1. Deputies found a spent .9 millimeter bullet lodged in the home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The gunfire came from south of Amar Road and into the back of the home. A witness reported to deputies an older, dark-colored SUV occupied by two Hispanic men fleeing westbound on Homeward Street towards Sunkist Avenue. One victim was shot in the buttocks, a second shot in the stomach in the 200 block of Santa Mariana Avenue around 12:14 a.m. Two suspects approached both victims, who are described as Black men in their 20s, and one of the fire upon the victims with a 40-caliber handgun, according to Lt. Hugo Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The victims ran to a nearby McDonald’s, 13814 Valley Blvd., where help was summoned. Both victims are labeled in stable condition, Reynaga said. The suspects, described as Hispanic men, fled the area. The motive is unclear. The victims become uncooperative as deputies asked them questions, Reynaga said. Passing motorists witnessed the 20-something man walking in the middle of Temple Avenue and Valley Boulevard around 11:40 p.m. The man was bleeding from the chest, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station radio traffic. The man was taken to an area hospital. The man was last listed in stable condition, according to Lt. Chris Garcia of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies could not locate the suspect, Garcia said. The suspect was known to the victim. Deputies, aided by a helicopter, searched for the suspect, who is likely a transient living in or near an encampment around the 605 freeway at Valley Boulevard, deputies said. The suspect was seen sitting in a vehicle on Temple Avenue around 5:30 p.m. The suspect was known to deputies and he fled from them while they tried to detain him, according to Lt. Reynaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled into his residence, not too far from where he was sitting in the stolen vehicle. Deputies converged on the home and called on the suspect to surrender, Reynaga said. Two occupants of the home exited and were detained before the suspect finally surrendered. The two other occupants are detained until the home can be searched. No booking information was available for the armed suspect. |
