The unidentified suspect was detained in the 9400 block of Workman Avenue July 15. A previous statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported the victim died at the scene, but detectives now said the victim died at a hospital.

Firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9400 block of Workman Avenue around 6:06 p.m. A gunshot victim was found and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. There is no suspect information available.

Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call from a man stating he shot his wife and had another person tied up in the 5900 block of Sultana Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Deputies, assisted by a helicopter, secured the home and ordered everyone out, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies finished detaining everyone inside the home and secured the residence by 8:50 p.m.
No shooting victims were found. It is not yet clear where the call originated from. The deputy’s condition is unclear, according to Deputy Charles Moore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “We’re still trying to determine exactly what happened,” according to Moore.
The Sheriff’s Temple Station has yet to release information on the circumstances leading to the fall. The suspect has been inside the In-N-Out, 10601 Lower Azusa Rd., since before 3 a.m. Deputies responding to a burglary alarm call found the man inside and he refused commands to exit, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Nearby structures have been evacuated and a crisis negotiation team is on scene. The resident called 9-1-1 after the men fled around 8:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Kauffman Avenue. The suspects fled in an unknown direction, according to Sgt. Klinski of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Klinksi did not know how the suspects entered. In a Sheriff’s crime broadcast, the suspects were described as Black men, all 5 feet 9 inches tall, between 140 pounds to 200 pounds. All three wore black clothing and covered their faces with black ski masks. One man was armed with a golf club. Deputies have narrowed their search down to the area of Golden West Avenue and Agnes Avenue between Woodruff Avenue and Garibaldi Avenue, according to Sgt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. A concerned resident alerted deputies to a burglary in progress in the 6000 block of Rowland Avenue around 5 p.m. One of the aspects fled towards Golden West through residential yards, Long said. It is unknown if the suspect is armed. The checkpoint, scheduled at an undisclosed location, will end Saturday at 2 a.m. Deputies will search for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, while checking motorists for proper licensing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Studies of California drivers have shown that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for alcohol (7.3 percent),” the Sheriff’s Temple Station said. “Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent, at 7.4 percent, slightly more than alcohol.” Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - Deputies are investigating four men who burglarized a home Saturday afternoon.
The burglary occurred in the 10600 block of Hallwood Drive around 2:10 p.m. The men fled without taking any property, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The four suspects, described to deputies as 20-year-old Black men, fled in an older-model silver sedan northbound on Pal Mal Avenue. No weapons were seen during the burglary. |
