Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - One victim died and one victim remains in unknown condition after a drive-by shooting Monday afternoon. An 18-year-old Black man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. A Black juvenile was also hospitalized after being wounded in the lower extremities, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect, only described as a Hispanic man, opened fire on the two victims from inside a vehicle in the 2100 block of Santa Anita Avenue June 10 around 4:39 p.m. A vehicle description is unknown.
Anyone with information on the suspect or who witnessed the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Firefighters were called to two gunshot victims just before 4:40 p.m. in the 2100 block of Santa Anita Avenue. Both patients were transported to an area hospital, according to Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sgt. Dirk Blansfield of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. The shooting unfolded outside of a residence. Descriptions of a suspect and suspect vehicle were not available, Blansfield said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - Deputies believe two people detained during a traffic stop committed a robbery after discovering fake weapons, masks, gloves and more Tuesday. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Summer Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Figueroa Drive June 4. Deputies found the driver is on probation for assault and marijuana sales, according to the Sheriff’s Altadena Station. Inside the vehicle, deputies found masks, gloves, replica firearms, marijuana and alcohol.
The traffic stop was conducted around 12:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Retamoza of the Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The unidentified suspects were booked on suspicion of reasonable cause robbery and marijuana sales, the Altadena Sheriff’s Station reported.
