Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - A long-dead woman was located after reports of a foul odor coming from inside a tent Friday night. The woman was discovered near a dirt road leading to a water tank in Las Flores Canyon. There were no signs of foul play. The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team was called to locate the tent around 8:52 p.m. Friday, July 19, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The cause of death is not yet known. It is unclear if the woman was transient. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team rescued an 11-year-old girl after she became ill due to heat exposure on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road. Rescuers were called around 11:25 a.m. to the Pinecrest Trailhead on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road Sunday, July 14. The girl was found 250 yards from the trailhead where rescuers took the Long Beach girl to an ambulance. The ambulance transported the girl, and a parent, to a nearby hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station.
Rescuers cleared the area and transported the girl on about one hour. “This family definitely learned an important lesson today. We hope everyone can learn how quickly someone can become affected by exercising or even walking in the high heat we are currently experiencing,” deputies said. Noon: A vehicle burglary occurred in the 1200 block of Sonoma Drive. The vehicle was entered by unknown means. Vehicle registration and an insurance card were taken. 8:00 p.m.: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2200 block of North Mar Vista Avenue. A brown Ferragamo wallet and currency were taken. 9:00 p.m.: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2200 block of North Mar Vista Avenue. A black/white Jansport backpack, silver calculator and a green notebook were taken. Wednesday, July 3 3:00 p.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of New York Drive. The vehicle is a red 1993 Chevrolet S10. Thursday, July 4 Midnight: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1200 block of Morada Place. A black portfolio, black socks, pink sunglasses and black Kate Spade prescription glasses were taken. Saturday, July 6 6:30 a.m.: A vehicle burglary occurred in the 500 block of West Woodbury Road. The vehicle was entered by unknown means. A gold necklace, gold St. Jude pendant, white gold wedding bands and engagement ring were taken. |
