The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting death, which occurred around 1 p.m., in the 2400 block of Canyada Avenue. Deputies responding to a gunfire call found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso near Canyada Avenue and Figueroa Drive. The victim was reportedly driving when an unknown suspect fired upon him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim, only described as a 45-year-old Black man, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, deputies said. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the 2000 block of Canyada Avenue and reportedly drove away.
Deputies focused on a house where the suspect was thought to be. With the help of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the home was cleared. No suspect was found. The shooting occurred on West Figueroa Drive near North Canyada Avenue just after 1 p.m. February 16, according to the Los Angeles county fire department. The sheriffs department has yet to publicly provide a suspect description, if one exists. A press release issued by the sheriffs department stated the incident occurred at 2 p.m. However, Los Angeles County Firefighters responded at 1:05 p.m. and a social media post from Altadena deputies warning of a road closure on Figueroa was posted at 1:32 p.m. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - Deputies confiscated a large amount of marijuana product, cash, three guns and 11 people were arrested during a search warrant operation at two dispensaries, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The arrests and seizure of the guns and contraband took place within the last two weeks along Fairoaks Drive. One of the guns taken was later discovered stolen, the Sheriff’s Department said.
