Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team rescued an 11-year-old girl after she became ill due to heat exposure on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road. Rescuers were called around 11:25 a.m. to the Pinecrest Trailhead on the Mt. Wilson Toll Road Sunday, July 14. The girl was found 250 yards from the trailhead where rescuers took the Long Beach girl to an ambulance. The ambulance transported the girl, and a parent, to a nearby hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station.
Rescuers cleared the area and transported the girl on about one hour. “This family definitely learned an important lesson today. We hope everyone can learn how quickly someone can become affected by exercising or even walking in the high heat we are currently experiencing,” deputies said. |
