The crimes were publicized in the Altadena Sheriff’s Station weekly crime blotter. A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of East Mendocino Street between 7:10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A suspect or suspects entered the home through unknown means. It is unclear what was stolen, deputies said. A residential burglary was reported in the 3600 block of Monterosa Drive between 10:55 a.m. and 8:35 p.m. A rear sliding glass door was shattered to gain entry. Jewelry was taken from the home in a yellow pillow case, deputies said. Another residential burglary was reported this one any 2000 block of Holliston Avenue between Noon and 3:30 p.m. Unknown suspects shattered a window and were able to disable a burglary alarm. It is unknown what was stolen.
A residential burglary was reported in the 1300 block of East Woodbury Road. between 2:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Jewelry was reported stolen from the home after an unknown number of suspects shattered a rear window. A black wallet containing credit cards was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2500 block of East Washington Boulevard between 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. deputies said. Unknown suspects burglarized a vehicle in the 900 block of East Woodbury Road Between 6:40 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. A window was shattered and a black messenger bag, brown Louis Vuitton wallets, cash and personal documents were stolen. 8:37 a.m.: A vehicle burglary occurred near Altadena Drive and Roosevelt Avenue. A window was shattered to gain entry. The loss is unknown. Noon: A vehicle burglary occurred in the 1200 block of Sonoma Drive. The vehicle was entered by unknown means. Vehicle registration and an insurance card were taken. 8:00 p.m.: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2200 block of North Mar Vista Avenue. A brown Ferragamo wallet and currency were taken. 9:00 p.m.: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 2200 block of North Mar Vista Avenue. A black/white Jansport backpack, silver calculator and a green notebook were taken. Wednesday, July 3 3:00 p.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of New York Drive. The vehicle is a red 1993 Chevrolet S10. Thursday, July 4 Midnight: A petty theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 1200 block of Morada Place. A black portfolio, black socks, pink sunglasses and black Kate Spade prescription glasses were taken. Saturday, July 6 6:30 a.m.: A vehicle burglary occurred in the 500 block of West Woodbury Road. The vehicle was entered by unknown means. A gold necklace, gold St. Jude pendant, white gold wedding bands and engagement ring were taken. An 18-year-old Black man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. A Black juvenile was also hospitalized after being wounded in the lower extremities, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect, only described as a Hispanic man, opened fire on the two victims from inside a vehicle in the 2100 block of Santa Anita Avenue June 10 around 4:39 p.m. A vehicle description is unknown.

Firefighters were called to two gunshot victims just before 4:40 p.m. in the 2100 block of Santa Anita Avenue. Both patients were transported to an area hospital, according to Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sgt. Dirk Blansfield of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. The shooting unfolded outside of a residence. Descriptions of a suspect and suspect vehicle were not available, Blansfield said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - Deputies believe two people detained during a traffic stop committed a robbery after discovering fake weapons, masks, gloves and more Tuesday. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Summer Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Figueroa Drive June 4. Deputies found the driver is on probation for assault and marijuana sales, according to the Sheriff’s Altadena Station. Inside the vehicle, deputies found masks, gloves, replica firearms, marijuana and alcohol.
The traffic stop was conducted around 12:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Retamoza of the Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The unidentified suspects were booked on suspicion of reasonable cause robbery and marijuana sales, the Altadena Sheriff’s Station reported. The still-unidentified suspect was taken to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - The hiker stabbed in a seemingly-unprovoked knife attack on an Altadena hiking trail is in stable condition, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. The suspect accused of attacking the hiker is still hospitalized with his own injuries and has yet to be booked, according to Lt. David Holwager of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station. The still-unidentified suspect appeared to be a transient, but deputies have not definitively learned the suspect’s residency, Holwager said. He was earlier described by a Sheriff’s sergeant as a transient.
The hiker was attacked before 8 p.m. on a trail in Eaton Canyon. The suspect reportedly jumped from some bushes and stabbed the hiker in the chest multiple times, according to Sgt. Brooks of the Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The hiker ran back to his home near Eaton Canyon, the suspect gave chase and reportedly continued to attack, Brooks said. Deputies found the suspect standing in a residential yard and the hiker who collapsed from his injuries, Brooks said. The suspect was arrested without incident. ALTADENA - A hiker in his 30s or 40s is expected to undergo surgery after being stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms after a man attacked him Wednesday. The man allegedly stabbed the hiker after leaping out of some brush and used what was described as a six-inch tactical knife just before 8 p.m. May 29. The hiker, an Altadena resident, ran down the trail as the man followed him, according to Sgt. Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The hiker is in critical condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Brooks said. The man, who is also in his 30s or 40s, apparently uttered gibberish before attacking the hiker unprovoked, Brooks said.
The hiker made it back to his home at Altadena Drive near Midwick Avenue after being stabbed some more by the man. “The victim collapsed in his yard on Altadena Drive at Midwick and the suspect was found in the guy’s yard standing there holding the knife. Deputies arrested him,” Brooks said. Brooks did note that transients tend to take root in the canyon, but did not have a specific number. ALTADENA - A suspect accused of pointing a gun at someone may be barricaded inside an Altadena home Saturday night. Deputies have asked residents and drivers to avoid the 300 block of Laun Street. Deputies believe the suspect may be inside a home, but are unsure if the suspect is still in the area, according to Lt. Smeltzer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station. The alleged assault with a deadly weapon was reported around 9:30 p.m., Smeltzer said.
Deputies spoke with the victim and were told the suspect pointed a handgun at him and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. It is unclear if the gun is a replica, or real weapon. The robbery occurred around 2:50 p.m. at Metro by T-Mobile, 2216 Lincoln Ave., around 2:50 p.m. April 1. The suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station. The suspect fled east on Woodbury Road.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was dressed in all black and wore a motorcycle helmet. |
