The driver and two juveniles were accused of committing grand theft at Ulta Beauty, 1229 S. Lone Hill Ave., and at Chili’s, 1371 E. Gladstone St. Police were called at 6:51 p.m., according to Sgt. Shelly Gold of the Glendora Police Department. Both businesses are located in the Glendora Marketplace. Glendora officers on patrol were close by the Marketplace and were able to intercept the driver who refused to comply with a traffic stop and took off. Police decided to end the pursuit due to the driver’s reckless nature, Gold told SGV CityWatch. The driver crashed into as many as four other vehicles at Gladstone Street and Sunflower Avenue around 6:55 p.m., according to a passerby who reached out to SGV CityWatch. Taylor Jorie Diaz, 18, was booked on suspicion of grand theft of money, labor, or property and reckless evading, according to Glendora Police booking records. Diaz is being held in the Glendora police jail I had a scheduled appearance in the west Covina courthouse Friday, May 28, according to Los Angeles county booking records. Deputies ended their containment search around 10:30 a.m. after a suspect could not be found, according to Deputy Shawn Dubusky of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Several people were initially detained, but their current status was not immediately known, Dubusky told SGV CityWatch. GLENDORA - Deputies are searching for a suspect after possible gunfire was heard during an eviction service, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Deputies were serving an eviction notice at the apartment complex in the 100 block of East Route 66 just after 8:30 a.m. they heard what they believed were several rounds of gunfire, according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. It is unclear if deputies at the scene have found ballistics evidence. No one was injured. the eviction notice was being served at Avalon Glendora, 121 E. Route 66. When eviction notices are served, deputies from a specific courthouse issue the notice, Medrano told SGV CityWatch. The deputies are being assisted by deputies from the Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The work is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and conclude Friday, May 7 at 7 a.m. All vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured, according to the Gold Line Foothill Construction Authority. The closure only affects Lone Hill Avenue between Auto Centre Drive and Gladstone Street, the Construction Authority said. More closures will be coming to Glendora. Contingent on the current Elwood Street Closure at the railroad tracks ending May 11, closures at Pasadena Avenue and Loraine Avenue will commence. The full closure at Pasadena Avenue is scheduled to begin May 11 and last until November 11. The full closure of Loraine Avenue is scheduled to begin May 12 and end August 26, the Construction Authority said. The access road to the Glendora City Maintenance Yard will be permanently closed and used for the L Line completion, as that land is part of the L Line right of way, the Construction Authority said. The driver allegedly fled the scene of a crash in San Dimas and used the 210 freeway to escape, according to the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. The driver crashed into the attenuators while exiting the westbound 210 freeway to Lone Hill Avenue at 1:15 a.m., according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. Jimenez identified the driver as Magda Knowles. Knowles’ Honda CRV landed on a guardrail. Knowles suffered a minor injury to one of her wrists. The only occupant of the vehicle, Knowles was arrested by the CHP for DUI, Jimenez told SGV CityWatch. Booking information was not readily available. |
