An investigator is looking at the death as possibly natural, according to a supervisor with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A medical emergency was dispatched to firefighters just after 6 p.m. at a gas station at Grand Avenue and Baseline Road. A person in a truck was reportedly not breathing, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Pittman could not verify if firefighters determined a death at the scene. An SGV CityWatch reader drove by the scene and witnessed police working near a small truck. A sheet was draped over an unknown object. The Glendora Police Department could not be reached for comment. The crash occurred on southbound Glendora Mountain Road at Palm Drive around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect was reportedly driving at high speed when the crash occurred, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. Firefighters documented at least one patient being transported to a hospital, according to Marvin Lim, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman.
The vehicle the suspect drove left the roadway before crashing, Layaye said. The driver was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, but booking information is not yet available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A man was hospitalized Saturday after being electrocuted while clearing tree branches from power lines. The man was working in the 800 block of East Huerta Verde Drive when he struck an overhead power line with a piece of equipment November 30. The man was electrocuted and fell unconscious for an unknown duration, said Lt. Chris Stabio of the Glendora Police Department. “He regained consciousness while up in the tree and was able to maneuver himself down,” Stabio said, adding that his coworkers assisted in getting him down.
The man was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and is expected to survive Stabio said. A small fire ignited in the tree and live wires fell in the area, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. 28 customers are reportedly without electricity and power may not be restored until 9 a.m. December 1, according to information provided by Southern California Edison. The solo crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on South Barranca Avenue north of Gladstone Street November 26. The driver was pronounced dead after arriving to the hospital, according to the Glendora Police Department. The driver was northbound in the 1200 block of South Barranca Avenue when the crash occurred. The cause is under investigation. Mark Guerrero, 56, was identified by Investigator Ryan Parraz of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Guerrero is a resident of Glendora. The body was discovered in the Walmart Lot, 1950 Auto Centre Dr. Firefighters were called around 2:51 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The man was found inside a parked vehicle, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department.
An employee apparently discovered the body. It was not immediately clear what circumstances led to the employee discovering the man. The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, said Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The cause of death has yet to be determined. About 400 plants were discovered inside the home, a portion of which was converted to accommodate the physical requirements of growing the marijuana, according to Lt. James DeMond of the Glendora Police Department. The tree somehow ignited a small fire after it fell on the home. The fire was reported at 761 W. Heber St. Firefighters were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. and flames were knocked down around 9:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Health hazmat units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were called to the scene after firefighters discovered the weed. No one was inside the home when first responders arrived. It was not immediately known how much of the home was converted to a marijuana grow operation. The Glendora Police Investigations Bureau did not return a call to provide specific details on the exact number of plants, stages of growth and what else was found inside. The fire was reported at a home in the 700 block of West Heber Street. Firefighters were dispatched at 9:08 p.m. and flames were knocked down around 9:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Health hazmat units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department are being called to the scene after marijuana was discovered at the home, according to firefighters. It is unclear if the marijuana is part of a grow operation. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - A 35-foot-long box truck caught fire and became fully-engulfed Saturday morning. The fire was reported around 8:47 a.m. on the eastbound 210 freeway east of Grand Avenue March 14 on the right shoulder. The original report stated flames were seen coming from the engine, according to the California Highway Patrol. Either residents or passersby reported the sound of explosions, but it is unclear if the box truck’s tires or its contents were exploding. There was no information on injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Traffic is still impacted by a crash on the westbound 210 freeway at Grand Avenue after a van spun out, crashed and began leaking fuel. The crash occurred just before 3 a.m. The white van spun out and crashed into the center divider. The driver apparently abandoned the van, according tot he California Highway Patrol. Approximately 50 gallons of fuel leaked onto the freeway. A Sig Alert was issued at 3:14 a.m. for all lanes initially, but the No. 3 and 4 lanes were opened by 6:12 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Deputies from the Industry Sheriff’s Station are investigating a sex assault in their jurisdiction after the victim wound up in a Glendora parking lot Friday. The victim parked in the lot at Gladstone Care Rehab, 435 E. Gladstone St. Officers were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle at 5:31 a.m. January 25 and eventually located the victim, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. The scene was still active as of 10 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies had the area around the parked vehicle taped off, according to a SGV CityWatch reader.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 7:15 a.m. for a bleeding victim, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A sergeant with the Sheriff’s Industry Station could only confirm that an investigation is underway, but would not elaborate further. |
