Glendora police stated in a social media post that authorities were no longer searching for a suspect as of 10:42 p.m. and that road closures were over. It was not explicitly stated if a suspect was found. No arrest for a male robbery suspect exists in Glendora booking records, but records show 43-year-old Maria Luisa Valenzuela-Ayala was arrested at 2:09 p.m. at 750 W. Route 66. Valenzuela-Ayala was booked on suspicion of robbery. One suspect was killed by police gunfire after the suspect refused to comply with commands to surrender, according to Lt. Robert Westphal of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The shooting took place in the driveway of the mixed-use Glendora Park Place Apartments, 633 W. Route 66 September 6. Glendora Police responded to Jamal Jewelry, 750 W. Route 66, around 12:15 p.m. Friday to a takeover robbery. Witnesses described two men armed with handguns. Arriving officers also found a woman parked in a nearby vehicle and later arrested her. Police from surrounding agencies aided by two helicopters searched for the fleeing suspect in neighborhoods south of the crime scene. One other suspect remains outstanding, with a containment and search focusing on the neighborhood south of the scene of the crime — Lamas Jewelry, 750 Route 66. The outstanding suspect is a black man with a thin build. He has short dreadlocks with hair shaved on the sides of his head and wore a black jacket or white shirt and blue jean pants, Glendora Police said. The Foothills Special Enforcement Team is working to locate a suspect. As of 5:15 p.m. a contingent of SWAT team members followed by a Glendora Police cruiser down Vecino Drive south of Route 66 where a search continues. The two fleeing suspects ran through the rear exit of the jewelry store. Details are few regarding the circumstances of the shooting that took place near the 600 block of West Route 66 September 6. Firefighters were summoned to the scene at 12:30 p.m., arrived at 12:34 p.m. and transported one gunshot victim to the hospital in unknown condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Nearby Stanton Elementary School is on lockdown. Students will be taken by bus to Citrus College Stadium Lot on the south side. Parents are encouraged to enter off of Citrus and then walk to the parking lot to be reunited with their children, according to the Glendora Police Department. The shooting reportedly occurred during a jewelry store robbery near Route 66 and Vecino Drive. It is unclear if a suspect was hit by gunfire or if any suspects remain at-large. Route 66, at 9:21 p.m. and took an undisclosed amount of lottery tickets, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. The suspects were described as two Black men in hooded sweatshirts.
A Shell gas station was hit at 1860 E. Route 66 around 9:55 p.m. The suspects ran in, grabbed tickets and fled on foot in both cases. No weapons were seen and no suspect vehicle description was available, Layaye said. The incident was reported at the Glendora Motel, 330 W. Route 66, around 4:06 p.m. The suspect attempted to take what was described as a personal bag from his male victim, according to Glendora Police Lieutenant Marty Barrett. The suspect is a white man, about 6 feet tall dressed in all black and he wore a black baseball hat, Barrett said. No one was injured. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor GLENDORA - Four people were arrested Wednesday after robbing Kohl’s of a multitude of merchandise, a police lieutenant said. A loss prevention officer attempted to stop the four suspects who entered the store, 1225 S. Lone Hill Ave., just before 3:30 p.m. and began taking a large quantity of merchandise, according to Lt. Mike Randazzo of the Glendora Police Department. The suspects fled in a vehicle, which was intercepted by Glendora officers, but the driver would not stop. The vehicle finally stopped in the 1300 block of West Arrow Highway in San Dimas. Two occupants remained in the vehicle while two fled on foot, Randazzo said.
The outstanding suspects were apprehended nearby, Randazzo said. All the stolen merchandise was also recovered, Randazzo said. Enrique Jackson, 18; Tamon Douglas Bell, 18; Kaylon Jercoby Eddings, 18; and Camryn Nyechelle Glover, 18, were all arrested. The robbery took place at Albertsons, 133 W. Route 66 around 9:08 p.m. The suspect was leaving the store with the alcohol when an employee tried t stop him. After alluding he had a weapon, the suspect fled the store on foot southwest. Witnesses lost sight of him after a few moments, according to Sgt. Ryan Layaye of the Glendora Police Department. Police and a helicopter looked for the suspect, only described by Layaye as wearing black glasses, but he could not be located. |
