Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Detectives released a composite sketch of the girl found partially stuffed in a duffle bag and dumped near the edge of Hacienda Boulevard in Hacienda Heights Tuesday. The girl is now estimated to be between 8 to 13 years old, stood 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 55 pounds. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau also publicized photos of the actual clothing the girl was wearing when she was discovered. No one has come forward with any information regarding the child’s parents, or if anyone saw suspicious activity in the days before the child was discovered.
The upper portion of the girl’s body was partially exposed when she was discovered before 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5.
“These are the hardest cases to handle -- anything involving a child. This is very sad,” Hoglund said. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the nearby area to see any suspicious persons or vehicles nearby. It is unclear if the girl’s disappearance is tied to any missing children cases, either in the county, in the state or outside California. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau will also provide additional details and display real photos of the girl’s clothing in an effort to help identify her. A Black girl estimated between 7 and 10 years old was found dead near Hacienda Boulevard and South Glenmark Drive Tuesday around 9:55 a.m.
The girl was there for roughly 24 hours before being discovered, according to Homicide detectives. The cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Detectives are asking additional victims to come forward after the arrest and arraignment of a high school track and field coach accused of carrying on a years-long relationship with a student. Fidel Camarena Dominguez, 37, pleaded not guilty to six counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old, two counts each of oral copulation of a person under 16, dissuading a witness from prosecuting a crime and one count each of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation of a person under 18, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Dominguez is accused of carrying on the relationship from February 2015 to June 2017 with the Rosemead High School student who was 14 at the time, prosecutors said.
Dominguez was the girl’s coach. He would pick her up on weekends, driver to his home in the 400 block of Sandia Drive in La Puente and have sex with her, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim, now 18, told deputies about the assaults February 22, 2019. Dominguez was arrested at Rosemead High School Friday, March 1 by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau at 10:40 a.m. He was booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station, Los Angeles County booking records show. In addition to serving as track coach, Dominguez also served as a day-to-day substitute teacher, according to documents from Transparent California. A decade ago, he served as track coach at Beverly Hills High School. Dominguez is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - One person was flown by helicopter to an area hospital, four others refused medical treatment after their truck plunged about 500 feet above La Cañada Flintridge Monday. The crash was witnessed by a public works employee on Big Tujunga Canyon Road near Angeles Forest Highway just before 5 a.m. March 4. A Toyota Tacoma pickup went over the side, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The injured occupant was flown by Los Angeles County Firefighters to Huntington Memorial Hospital. |
