CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - Investigators seek additional victims of a man accused of threatening at least one person and imprisoning at least one other near a Mt. Baldy hiking trail. Patrick Michael Flynn, 66, was arrested May 16 in the latest incident, charged with false imprisonment by violence, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records. The majority of incidents allegedly perpetrated by Flynn occurred January 12. He was charged with five counts of making criminal threats, and five special allegations of using a deadly weapon, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records. “Suspect Flinn is extremely dangerous, violent, and known to carry large knives on his person,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The alleged assaults occurred along the Barrett Stoddard Trail near Mt. Baldy. Flinn has already appeared in West Covina Superior Court May 20 and 21, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 2. He has pleaded not guilty. Detectives with the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station are seeking additional victims who may have been assaulted, attacked, harassed, and/or threatened. CityWatch Editor REGION - An Azusa man is looking at a maximum of two years in prison, accused of slapping the rump of a male flight attendant. A federal grand indictment was returned May 1 against Dennis Wally Woodbury, 49, of Azusa. He is charged with one count of abusive sexual contact April 13 on a JetBlue plane bound from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Los Angeles International AirPort, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The incident unfolded April 13. While the plane had yet to depart, Woodbury allegedly displayed inappropriate conduct with two male flight attendants. Woodbury allegedly showed one of the flight attendants a photograph of a dog. The picture contained pornographic imagery in the background. Woodbury later told one of the flight attendants that he should go on a cruise with him then made a crude hand gesture, according to the Department of Justice. Just after meal service and while the plane was still in the air, the second flight attendant collected passengers’ meal trays and walked past Woodbury. Woodbury, who had been drinking heavily, then used his left hand to slap the victim’s buttocks. Woodbury then yelled that he loved him, according to the Department of Justice. “Later during the flight, the first flight attendant was in the plane’s front galley when Woodbury entered. Woodbury allegedly then pulled down his trousers and underwear, exposing his genitalia. The first flight attendant told Woodbury that his behavior was inappropriate,” according to the Department of Justice. When one of the male flight attendants denied the already-soused Woodbury’s request for wine, Woodbury again pulled down his trousers and underwear. The flight attendant said, “Enough, go back to your seat,” according to the Department of Justice. Woodbury is a former California Highway Patrol captain who had been dismissed from state service. According to public payroll records, Woodbury recently served as a Riverside County CHP captain. Woodbury voluntarily surrendered his peace officer certification April 3, 2025, according to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards & Training. The database did not list reasons for the voluntary surrender. He also served as captain for the CHP Baldwin Park office in 2017. Woodbury was charged within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, a felony that carries a statutory maximum sentence of two years in federal prison, according to the Department of Justice. Woodbury made his initial federal court appearance in April and is free on $50,000 bond. CityWatch Editor MONROVIA - A 23-year-old man was sentenced Monday for producing and distributing child sex abuse material in which he recorded his abuse of a child. David Lisandro Perez Figueroa, a Monrovia resident, was sentenced by United States District Judge John F. Walter, who also ordered Perez Figueroa to pay $2,799 in restitution and placed him on lifetime supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Perez pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography of his abuse of a 2-year-old toddler, which was produced from an unknown date until December 2023. In July 2023, Perez distributed the sex abuse material through the social media platform X in an account linked to him. British law enforcement investigating a target in the United Kingdom discovered Perez’s X chat logs and notified federal law enforcement in the US. Federal agents executed a search warrant at Perez’s home December 5, 2023 and arrested him, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Written by AARON CASTREJON
CityWatch Editor REGION - San Bernardino County Sheriff’s detectives took three people into custody in the San Gabriel Valley May 30, accusing them of being involved in a home invasion robbery and assault in Bloomington. Two simultaneous search warrants were executed, resulting in the arrest of suspects Marcos Guerrero and Cynthia Leal at an apartment complex in Glendora. One other suspect, Elijah Gafare, was arrested in West Covina, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Two residents in the 18000 block of Valley Boulevard in Bloomington were awaken at 3 a.m. at gunpoint by three suspects March 12. A man was pistol-whipped, while a woman was allegedly held against her will, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The three suspects made off with about $12,500, the video surveillance hard drive and the victims’ vehicle. The male victim was able to call for help. The search warrants were served around 11:45 a.m. May 30. Guerrero, a 48-year-old Glendora resident, and Leal, a 38-year-old Ontario resident, were arrested in the 1000 block of East Foothill Boulevard in Glendora. Gafare, a 35-year-old West Covina resident, was arrested in the 700 block of South Manzanita Drive in West Covina. Eduardo Sarabia, 40, was officially charged with one count of forcible rape, one count of oral copulation by force or injury, and two counts of special allegations of sex crimes with aggravated circumstances, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court data. Investigators believe sex crimes with female victims occurred on May 12 and May 13 between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. A deputy patrolling Highway 39 at mile marker 21 above Azusa and Glendora came upon the van May 13. The deputy called for assistance after hearing a woman screaming inside of the van, which was parked on a turnout along the winding mountain road. A suspect, whom investigators identified as Sarabia, emerged and initially complied with the deputy’s commands. At one point, the suspect ran back into the van where the woman was still screaming. The suspect then re-emerged and complied with the deputy’s commands, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. It took between 5 and 10 minutes until backup was able to arrive and help the deputy take the suspect into custody and clear the van of anyone inside. Based on the allegations, investigators believe there may be additional victims. The crime went down in the 9000 block of Foothill Boulevard around 3:34 p.m. Rancho Cucamonga deputies originally responded to a report of gunfire and soon discovered it was an attempted carjacking as well. Both suspects, identified as Lorenzo Ortiz, 41, and Raymond Joshua Bowman, 26, fled after failing to take the victim’s vehicle. Officers found and arrested both suspects as they attempted to flee the area, according to the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station. The 41-year-old victim Was hospitalized for his injuries. Ortiz and Bowman were booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Ortiz was officially charged with one count each of attempted carjacking and an allegation under California’s Three Strikes Law. He pleaded not guilty, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records. He is being held in lieu of $140,000 bail. Bowman was officially charged with one count, each of attempted carjacking, an enhancement of using a firearm and enhancement of discharging a firearm, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records. He is being held in lieu of $190,000 bail. Both suspects have since made an initial appearance in court and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing January 17. Written by AARON CASTREJON Citywatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Investigators announced the arrest of two men accused of robbing a woman of her purse and severely beating her at a Costco.
The robbery occurred at 17500 Castleton Street November 26 around 6:30 p.m. The victim fought back and attempted to take back her purse. She was repeatedly punched in the face. She was dragged by the suspects’ vehicle during the getaway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “As a result of the suspects’ actions, the victim suffered facial and head trauma resulting in serious, life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. A search warrant was served in Diamond Bar December 28 and David Morrison, 38, and Andrew Morrison, 34, were arrested. Evidence from the victim was found during the search. Both men were booked on suspicion of robbery and are being held in lieu of $500,000 bail. Both men were scheduled for an appearance in the West Covina Courthouse. Investigators are trying to determine if the pair are involved in any other crimes in the San Gabriel Valley. David Lisandro Prerez Figueroa was charged with production of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. Figueroa was arrested earlier in December and is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles December 28, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. A federal magistrate ordered Figueroa to be held without bond, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. A federal search warrant was executed December at Figueroa’s home where he was arrested. British authorities investigating a target in the United Kingdom obtained chat logs from the X social media platform showing child sex abuse material and notified authorities stateside. Figueroa allegedly distributed the child sex abuse material on July 22 through X in an account allegedly linked to him. “If convicted of all charges, Figueroa would face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of 50 years in federal prison,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in a written statement. Jeremy Rahmelle Dates, 29, was arrested during an Upland traffic stop by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Burglary Robbery Task Force. The home invasion occurred January 31, 2023 in the 16400 Block of Burtree Street in Valinda. Dates is accused of beating his elderly victim after entering the home. The bedroom was ransacked. The victim suffered facial and head trauma, according to the Sheriff’s Department. There was a second suspect, an unknown lookout only described as Black male. “The investigation is ongoing in order to determine if this robbery suspect is related to other home invasion robberies that have recently occurred in the Southern California Area,” according to the Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Dates was transported to Sheriff’s Industry Station where he was booked and held in lieu $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the West Covina Courthouse December 21. Michael Guzman, 57, was arrested by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Division November 13. Guzman was charged at a November 15 arraignment with four counts of lewd acts upon a child age 14 or 15. Guzman pleaded not guilty, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The alleged lewd acts took place 20 years ago when Guzman was a history teacher and girls basketball coach, according to the Los Angeles Times. The two victims are also suing the Los Angeles Unified School District over the alleged sexual assaults. “Upon learning the nature of the charges, the assistant principal was immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of criminal the proceedings, and is barred from any District property,” according to the San Gabriel Unified School District in a written statement. There was no information suggesting the victim or victims are students are from any San Gabriel Unified schools, according to the district statement. In a “cold call” conducted by a LAPD detective months prior to the arrest, one of the victims questioned Guzman, who was put on speaker phone, why he assaulted her. Guzman allegedly apologized to her, according to the Times. Guzman was arrested at 10 a.m. and booked at 12:01 p.m. November 13. He posted bond November 16, according to Los Angeles County booking records. |
