Gregory Thomas Kingsbury, 37, allegedly shot and killed his as-of-yet unidentified brother in the 14600 block of Demblon Street in Baldwin Park Friday. Kingsbury is known to frequent the Baldwin Park, West Covina and Monrovia areas, Homicide detectives said. He fled in a charcoal grey 2012 Nissan Altima, which was recovered, Homicide detectives said. Kingsbury is a white male, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, has green eyes and a bump on the back of his head from a previous injury.
Anyone with information on Kingsbury’s whereabouts is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Information can be provided anonymously by calling L.A. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A second fire ignited near the roughly 15-acre fire burning in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. The second fire was reported by aircraft around 1 p.m. just south of the original fire near Highway 39 ad East Fork Road. Firefighters and deputies have evacuated campers at Coldbrook Campground, a nearby hiking trail and the West Fork area. The second fire has been contained to two acres and flames have been knocked down, according to Fire Chief Robert of the Angeles National Forest.
Firefighters believe the second fire to be suspicious in nature. Two men in a grey Hummer H3 were seen leaving the area southbound as the second fire ignited. Deputies from San Dimas Station and surrounding stations are assisting with evacuations. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A vehicle fire has spread to nearly five acres of brush near Highway 39 and East Fork Road. The fire has burned about three-quarters of an acre. The U.S. Forest Service has called for two firefighting helicopters to assist with a ground effort to knock down the flames, according to U.S. Forest Service radio traffic. The fire was reported by a motorist around 10:45 a.m. Authorities were contemplating shutting down traffic along Highway 39 and a possible evacuation of Coldbrook Campground. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - The identity of a partially-decomposed body found deep in the Angeles National Forest was released Thursday as well as that of a suspect in a May 12 killing. The body of Houston Alexander Auer, 22, was found by a patrolling game warden with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife Sunday June 23 in thick brush near Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road and Colby Ranch Road, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. The body was identified as that of Auer, a murder victim of 23-year-old Cameron Scott Lykins. The two lived in the unincorporated community of Meiners Oaks. The murder occurred in the home the two shared in the 1100 block of Meyer Road, Ventura County investigators said. Lykins took Auer’s body after killing him with a sledgehammer, drove it hundreds of miles to the San Gabriel Mountains and disposed of it, Ventura County investigators allege. Lykins, who fled to Lone Pine in Inyo County where he was arrested, refused to tell investigators the location of Auer after he was arrested May 12. “Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to the investigation and worked with the Los Angeles County agencies to identify the victim as Houston Auer,” Ventura County investigators said.
Lykins is jailed at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $2 million bail. His next scheduled court date is July 10. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - A man found guilty of a series of heinous crimes against four women over five years will see the inside of a prison cell for life. Jason Chung Chien Yu, 43, was sentenced Wednesday. He was found guilty in June of three counts of sodomy by use of force, two counts each of kidnapping to commit rape, assault to commit rape and false imprisonment and one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and criminal threats, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Yu assaulted women ranging from 22 to 60 years old. He promised the victims money or drugs in exchange for sex. Yu Kidnapped a woman to commit rape in 2012. He also beat and sodomized two women in 2016. In February 2017, Yu kidnapped another woman and assaulted her, the DA’s office said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION - A construction worker who previously was hired at an Arcadia woman’s home is accused of capital murder in her death, prosecutors said. Heber Enoc Diaz, 27, allegedly used a hammer, a jab, a saw and box cutter in the murder of Chyong Jen Tsai at her Arcadia residence April 9, 2019. He was no longer working on Tsai’s home when he burglarized her garage. Tsai stumbled upon Diaz who then allegedly beat her to death, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Tsai, 76, was found dead in the rear yard of her home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue by construction workers hired to renovate the home, investigators said. Diaz is also accused of burglarizing Tsai’s home March 19 while working there, according to Deputy District Attorney Miriam Avalos. Diaz was additionally charged with two felony counts of second-degree burglary and one felony count each of first-degree residential burglary, second-degree robbery and elder abuse. The charges include allegations of causing great bodily injury to a victim over age 70 and using deadly and dangerous weapons, the DA said. Tsai’s white 2005 Lexus RX 300 was missing from the home. It was later found abandoned in the 900 block of Colorado Boulevard in Los Angeles April 28. He was arrested a day later, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau.
Diaz was was scheduled for arraignment June 26. Two other suspects were additionally charged: 33-year-old Luis Alonso Cruz Gaitan of Altadena, who faces one felony count each of being an accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property exceeding $950 in value. Also charged was 26-year-old Isis Ondina Villalobos of Pasadena, who faces one felony count of accessory after the fact, the DA said. If convicted as charged, Diaz faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole or death. A decision on whether to seek the death penalty will be made at a later date, the DA’s office said. Gaitan and Villalobos each face up to three years in county jail if convicted as charged. Bail was denied for Diaz. Bail for both Gaitan and Villalobos was set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Gaitan and Villalobos June 28. Michele Nadaf-Rahrov, 48, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Deputies were called to a possible dead body discovered near Earl Canyon Motorway and Mt. Lukens Truck Trail Sunday afternoon. Firefighters were dispatched just after 5 p.m. to a medical rescue. A helicopter arrived and medics declared the victim dead, said Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
An hour before, deputies were called to Angeles Crest Highway at Colby Ranch Road on a seperate call of a dead body. The California Department of Fish & Wildlife notified deputies of a man found dead. He appeared to have been on the mountainside for a lengthy time, deputies said. Debby Shen was named by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. An autopsy has yet to be performed, according to public coroner records. David Busby, 56, was traveling south on the 57 freeway past Arrow Highway in the No. 2 lane just before 10 p.m. June 19. He slammed his 2016 Ford Transit 250 into the stalled 2012 Hyundai Elantra occupied by Shen, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Elantra was stalled in the No. 1 and 2 lanes when it was hit.
A Sig Alert was issued for the No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes from 10:19 p.m. to 1:16 a.m. Busby was booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail at the North County Correctional Facility, according to county booking records. Firefighters were dispatched just after 5 p.m. June 23 to a reported medical rescue. A rescue helicopter arrived on scene and medics declared the victim dead on arrival, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The helicopter left the area around 8:30 p.m., Pittman said. Coroner investigators retrieved a female from the mountains above the Crescenta Valley area, according to Kristy McCracken, investigator with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. There was a mixup regarding details on the discovery of a body Sunday in an earlier version of the story. Originally, Lt. Mark Lopez of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station provided details regarding the discovery of a body in the mountains. But upon a secondary interview, Lopez said he only knew of a body found at Upper Big Tujunga and Colby Ranch Road.
Lopez knew nothing of a female declared dead above the La Crescenta area, even though the body was in the Crescenta Valley Station jurisdiction. Around 4 p.m., the body of a man was discovered near Upper Big Tujunga and Colby Ranch Road in the Hidden Springs area. The body may have been in the mountains for a long duration, Lopez said. Albert Mercado died from traumatic injuries in the crash. The manner of death was ruled a suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The collision occurred around 8:52 p.m. at East Ramona Boulevard and Downing Avenue. The pedestrian, later identified as Mercado, was declared dead at the scene, according to Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
