Ramon Lopez Jr., 39, died after going into cardiac arrest. He was subdued by drivers who were stopped on the I-10 freeway west of San Gabriel Boulevard Monday -- drivers caught in the traffic jam Lopez apparently caused, according to the California Highway Patrol. Lopez began yelling at the driver and grabbed at the door handles, possibly in an attempt to carjack the driver, the CHP said. A group of stopped drivers then pinned Lopez to the pavement until an ambulance arrived. Lopez went into cardiac arrest. He was transported to an area hospital, according to CHP radio traffic. Lopez was declared dead just before Noon, the CHP said. The driver of the BMW was hospitalized for shock. The SUV was reported stolen out of Huntington Park.
